J

ack Teasdale, 21, has been recognised as one of the country’s leading electrotechnical and engineering services apprentices, aſter winning the coveted 2018 ECA Edmundson Apprentice of

the Year Award at a ceremony in London. Jack, who works for ECA member-firm Opus Building Services Ltd in Tyne

and Wear, was trained by JTL. After overcoming fierce competition from two other finalists, Jack won £1,500 and a study tour to France sponsored by industry manufacturer Hager. He will also be an ambassador for the electrotechnical industry in the coming year. Jack said: “It’s very humbling and a privilege to be recognised as ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year, and to be an ambassador for other apprentices. One of my mentors was himself the winner of this award in 1997, so it’s an honour to follow in his footsteps.” The two runners-up, who each won £750 and a state-of-the-art toolkit,

are Niall Watson, of Derry Building Services and Conor McCarthy, of Darke and Taylor. ECA CEO Steve Bratt commented: “I’m pleased to offer our

congratulations to Jack Teasdale for deservedly winning this year’s ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award. The quality of the three finalists this year is a real indication of the talent that exists in our industry. “Opus Building Services and JTL deserve credit for the support they have

him unable to walk, talk or continue leading the active life he was used to. Since that life-changing moment, Matthew has

suffered from a morbid personality disorder and changed from a happy and outgoing person to someone who no longer wanted to get out of bed or continue attending his therapy which would help with his long journey towards recovery. Matthew’s family became significantly

concerned about his wellbeing and the future ahead and contacted EIC for assistance to help purchase an all terrain wheelchair which would give Matthew an opportunity to lead a more independent life. Through EFSP and the incredible support from people like you who donate £1 to powerLottery every month, EIC was able to help Matthew to retain his independence and motivation to continue with his very long road towards recovery.

Thanks to his all

terrain wheelchair, Mathew is now able to walk the dogs and enjoy a more social and independent life with his loved ones. A little

help from the industry can make a huge difference to those who are faced with an uncertain future and are in danger of suffering from mental health problems. So why not show your support by joining the Employee and Family Support Programme or signing up to powerLottery and help people like Matthew to have a better quality of life while being in with a chance of winning cash prizes of up to £1,000.
