footfall from shoppers visiting such well-known retail outlets as Argos, Boots, Costa coffee, KFC, Primark, Sainsbury, and WH Smith. As part of a recent major refurbishment there was a requirement to upgrade the existing metal halide floodlighting to LEDs. This was to create a brighter ambience for shoppers as well as reduce energy and maintenance costs. Following an evaluation of potential solutions on the market a LED retrofit re-lamping approach was selected. Local wholesaler CRS recommended the LED-8087 retrofit from UK based Light Efficient Design, which was chosen for its high performance and cost-effectiveness. Not only did this allow retention of the existing and still serviceable fittings, ensuring considerable immediate savings to be made on the labour required, it also offered a five-year lifetime warranty, providing major future savings on lamp replacement costs.

Light Efficient Design’s LED lighting refurbishment of a Hampshire shopping precinct resulted in a brighter ambience for shoppers, plus reduced energy and maintenance costs.

Approximately 40 x 100-watt wall-mounted metal halide lamps have been replaced with 30- watt Light Efficient Design UK LED-8087 retrofit lamps. The existing reflectors in the fitting were removed as the interior space was limited and was not necessary; the LED-8087’s unique and

Spectrum RGB downlights from Phoebe LED have provided a versatile solution at the new state-of-the-art hospitality and conference centre at Thruxton Race Circuit in Hampshire.

A colour changing lighting scheme using Phoebe Spectrum LED downlights has been installed at Thruxton Race Circuit’s new hospitality and conference centre. T

he new Thruxton Centre is a two storey, 1415sq m facility offering a restaurant, bar,

exhibition space, functions rooms and hospitality suites as well as an outside viewing terrace and balcony. Ringwood Building Services was responsible

for installation and project management for the new facility, which included many innovative concepts and also required an eye catching lighting design and layout in the public facing areas. Ringwood worked closely with ElectricBase, Andover, to create a colour changing lighting scheme using the Phoebe Spectrum LED downlights that can be controlled and dimmed

via a Smartphone (Google Android or Apple IOS). The Spectrum 10W downlight consists of a 40

degree LED spotlight which provides colour temperature from 2200K extra warm white to 6500K daylight and a 2W colour-changing full spectrum RGB ambient ring light that projects a halo of light around the fitting. The downlight is also available in a tuneable

white version where the ambient ring can sync to the same colour as the main spotlight. Both the downlight and ambient ring light can be operated together or independently to provide unique and stunning scene setting possibilities via Bluetooth. Graeme Giles, of Ringwood Building Services,

commented: “The Spectrum lighting scheme looks stunning and has been very well received by both staff and guests within the Thruxton Centre. “Phoebe LED offered advice and full support

during the installation and a representative visited the site to assist with programming and to demonstrate the different sequences that could be achieved. “The system is extremely versatile and following the installation at Thruxton, I have installed this scheme into a restaurant where the colour scene setting functions have also been a huge success.”
