In our experience, contractors are looking for quality choices with traditional styling at an affordable price point for a wide variety of projects, including retrofit projects and social housing, However, there is also a valuable opportunity for the wholesaler to upsell to more interior design influenced wiring accessory ranges.
To answer that demand, Niglon has introduced a variety of wiring accessories options, with a no- compromise approach to technical specification and quality assurance, along with aesthetic design cues based on interior décor trends. These ranges include the ultra slim Premium Edge accessories, which are available in bushed of polished chrome and were launched as part of the introduction of more than 500 wiring accessory products by Niglon in 2017. Our move to introduce competitively priced wiring accessories with a high-end look has highlighted an appetite for such products amongst both contractors and end users, to such a degree that we have since continued that investment in new designs and tooling with the launch of two additional decorative
ranges; the Premium Edge S range and the Ultima range.
Protecting Margins
The variety of options and price points available from the broad selection of wiring accessories offered by Niglon ensures that wholesalers can always offer contractors an option that meets the needs of their project from a single, trusted supplier. Moreover, our commitment to supplying the electrical market exclusively through the wholesale channel means that margins are protected for the whole supply chain.
Conversely, suppliers that offer their products through the DIY and trade counter channels open the door to end users checking the retail price and forcing both contractors and wholesalers to price match. While contractors may be able to claw back some of their missing margin through labour costs, wholesalers must either reduce their margin or convince their customer to choose an alternative option, neither of which is ideal. Only suppliers that sell their products exclusively through the electrical trade can ensure that margins are protected, which is why, whatever trends design and technology may bring, Niglon will remain committed to the wholesale channel.
