Smart upgrade for EDATA data pool T
he EDATA data pool’s latest technical upgrade has introduced a bespoke suite of APIs (Application Programming Interface) to create automatic links with other business-critical systems and e-commerce websites.
Wholesaler members of the Electrical Distributors’ Association (EDA) already benefi t from free access to the EDATA data pool portal containing information on over 270,000 products, which can be used in a variety of ways to improve business performance.
Richard Appleton, head of digitalisation at the EDA, explained: “Our latest API development brings the next generation of automation to
wholesaler businesses. Automated updates from EDATA are available in a variety of combinations all designed around what wholesalers need. For example, wholesalers may want to automate updates from specifi c manufacturers only, or for particular product ranges, or they may want everything that’s in EDATA.
“EDA member wholesalers are introducing us to their software providers and web support teams who’ll create system links. The EDATA team is here to support the process with technical know-how. We have created detailed user guides and, of course, there is absolutely no cost involved in this upgrade.”
