Industry Comment Showers warrant a closer look

Warranties are a key influencer when purchasing products. Lee Stones, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Redring, discusses the business growth opportunities that they provide for wholesalers and explains the benefits of supplying products with an extended warranty.

A

warranty is a promise offering assurance to both the installer and end-user that a product is going to provide strong functionality for a specified time.

A Redring survey found that nine out of 10 installers believed offering a

warranty with products was of importance. And with the industry standard being two years, Redring is already a ahead of the game offering extended three-year warranty packages. Redring hosted focus groups of installers, wholesalers and specifiers to find out exactly what they are looking for when purchasing a shower. The focus groups found that installers are more likely to buy a product which has an extended warranty, as it shows that the company has faith in its products and confidence in their high quality. To put this into context, customer or not, all of us search for a decent

warranty in a product, assuring performance and durability. The recent Redring showers, including the Bright and Glow models, for example, carry a three-year warranty package, ensuring installers can trust Redring as a brand to fulfil these needs. Warranty, however, is not something that can just be dished out. In order

to offer a decent warranty, the manufacturer must have complete confidence in both the product and the quality it will deliver. When Redring develops new products, its customers are at the forefront of the company’s mind. This was why it brought groups of installers together for a series of focus groups; highlighting the trust the service has in installers and to provide complete peace of mind when selling products. Another key feature that arose out of the focus

groups was that end users are often looking for a ‘solutions provider’ with durability being a key component to this. In terms of showers, something that can damage performance level is limescale. A build-up of limescale means a reduced

shower life, and a reduced shower life means a less durable product. Hence Redring has introduced phased shutdown. Phased shutdown is an anti-scaling technology

where the shower will continue to run for another 10 to 15 seconds after the stop button has been pressed. After clearing out any remaining hot water left in the shower, the water that follows post-shutdown will become cold. By cooling the heating element in the unit, the tank of heated water is being purged, therefore preventing a build-up of limescale both within the element and the showerhead. Phased shutdown also acts as a safety feature within the shower.

Depositing cold water at the end of a shower ensures a cool start for the next user, with no risk from a blast of hot water. As a stockist, you’ll want to assure your customers that you’re providing a

good product with a long life and a continuous performance. Phased shutdown is a beneficial feature that adds value to the product. The focus groups also found that installers prefer to shop at wholesalers as they can get all the parts and accessories they may need for an installation in one go, at one location. Being able to get replacements immediately was the main reason installers prefer wholesalers over online channels.

Redring’s Pure and Bright showers were designed, specified and marketed as a direct result of the focus groups.

It also avoids having to shop around, on the internet, for

different parts and fittings, leading to potentially frustrating and profit-reducing delays while components are delivered at different times. Should there be an issue, wholesalers will swap a faulty item straight away so the installer can finish the job rather than having to wait for a new delivery.

Redring’s recently launched Pure and Bright showers have both been

designed, specified and marketed as a direct result of the focus groups. Pure, the instantaneous electric shower is simple and slick, with three power settings, start-stop button and is A rated for energy efficiency. Pure comes with a standard three-year warranty. Bright multi-connection electric shower is the ultimate replacement

shower, featuring Redring’s SmartFit design including twin terminal blocks, six cable entry points and eight water entry points. The shower also comes with an extended three-year warranty.
