Engineering Design Show 2018 Exhibitors Omron to showcase IoT ready sensors at EDS

Visit Omron Electronic Components Europe at Stand: K32 at this year’s Engineering Design Show in Coventry on 17th and 18th October at the Ricoh Arena to view demonstrations of a new range of IoT ready sensors for monitoring mulitiple environmental parameters in a single component.

The Omron team will be showing how its latest sensors are creating opportunities, for example, helping unmanned buildings to become automated. This includes the newly released USB and board version of their successful 2JCIE Environmental Sensor which gives seven different

measurements in one unit. It’s increasingly easy for both the direct and indirect environmental factors affecting a facility, to be monitored over the IoT. Sensors paired with cloud based solutions allow for automated response procedures to be put in place based on set thresholds.

Visitors to EDS will see a range of sensors, switches and relays that can be applied to create autonomous, intelligent buildings.

First congatec SMARC 2.0 module with NXP

i.MX8 processor congatec has announced the conga-SMX8, the company’s first SMARC 2.0 Computer-on-Module based on the 64-bit NXP i.MX8 multi-core ARM processor family. The ARM Cortex-A53/A72 based conga-SMX8 represents the new flagship module for ultra-low-power embedded computer designs, offering the recent best-in-class ARM processor with excellent performance, flexible graphics and numerous embedded features for all kind of IIoT applications. It provides high-performance multi- core computing along with extended graphics capabilities for up to three independent 1080p displays or a single 4K screen. Further benefits of this

native industrial-grade platform include hardware-based real-time and hypervisor support along with broad scalability as well as resistance against harsh environments and extended temperature ranges. All these features make the SMARC 2.0 module meet the recent performance and feature set needs for low power embedded, industrial and IoT applications as well as the new mobility sector.

The new SMARC 2.0 modules with NXP i.MX8 processors, hardware based virtualization and resource partitioning are of great interest for a wide range of stationary and mobile industrial applications including real-time robotics and motion controls. Since the modules are qualified for the extended ambient temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, they can also be used in fleet systems for commercial vehicles or infotainment applications in cabs, busses and trains as well as all the new electric and autonomous vehicles.

More information about the new ARM Cortex-A72/A53 based conga-SMX8 SMARC 2.0 Computer-on-Modules with NXP i.MX8 processor is available at:

The new INOX-F15C-ULT3 15 inch Panel PC from BVM Limited is housed in a monolithic 304 stainless steel enclosure sealed to IP69k, the most demanding environmental protection specification. Designed to be installed in environments such as the food processing industry, where it will be subjected to regular high pressure, high temperature washing, the F15C–ULT3 is suitable for other applications in the industrial, marine and pharmaceutical sectors where a physically rugged self-contained PC is going to be exposed to high levels of dust, water and temperature. The unit is third-party IP69K tested with an 80°C 80 -100 bar

water jet at 100 – 150mm distance at angles from 0 to 90°.

The fanless PC is based on the Intel Skylake ULT chipset running 6th generation Intel Core i5 and Celeron ULT processors with up to 32GB of DRAM. The integral 10 point touchscreen is fitted with an anti-UV protective coating. Two 10G LAN ports, two COM serial ports and two USB2.0 ports are provided as standard; the interface for all I/O is via M12 sealed connectors. Also externally accessible is a 2.5 inch SATAIII bay for mass storage. Expansion capability is a full- size PCIe Mini card slot, a full-size/half-size (PCIe x1 and USB 2.0 signals slot and a M.2 B-key slot. 12VDC @ 5A power-in is from an external 90 – 264 VAC PSU via a sealed connector.
