Advertorials German components distribution remains on track
Stable but uninspired – this describes the German component distribution market during the second quarter 2018. Sales by companies registered with the Fachverband Bauelemente Distribution (FBDi e.V.) grew in the months April, May and June by 5% (compared with Q2/2017) to 949 million Euros. The order situation performed better, and with 1.04 billion Euros exceeded the billion Euro mark once again. With 1.09 the book-to-bill rate (order intake to revenue) remained on a high level.
Broken down by technology the passive components grew strongest with 14.4% (reaching 137 million Euros), followed by electromechanics (7.7% growth to 100 million Euros) and semiconductors (2.8% to 654 million Euros). Power supplies recorded 13.7% growth to 27 million Euros, and displays lost 4.3% ending at 21 million Euros. Regarding the breakdown of sales there is slight changes: semiconductors 68.9%, passive components 14.4%, electromechanics 10.6%, power supplies 2.8% and others (sensors, displays, assemblies) 3.3%.
www.fbdi.de UL- and VDE-certified cabling ducts
CONTA-CLIP offers a wide range of UL- and VDE- certified cabling ducts. These ducts are notable for their excellent form stability. They also feature tight- fitting covers that allow for very easy detachment and reattachment. Pegs with pre-determined breakage points enable comfortable customization of the ducts for incoming and outgoing cabling. The product comes with deburred edges to minimize the risk of injury during assembly and cable fitting and to protect the cable sheathing. The ducts are supplied with a standard length of two meters. They are made from a rigid PVC material that is lead-free, flame-retardant and self-extinguishing according to UL 94 V-0. For use in public buildings, CONTA- CLIP also provides halogen-free versions in
accordance with VDE 0472 part 815. In case of a fire, the plastic these cabling ducts are made from does not break down to release toxic gases. Moreover, this material meets the F2 and I3 requirements of the NF F 16-101 railway standards. The product range also includes all the necessary tools for mounting, like, for instance, the VKS cutter for exact 90° angle cuts of cabling ducts up to a width of 125 mm. Another one is the ergonomically shaped SN-SW setting tool that allows for secure, high-speed application of expanding rivets. Its long shaft makes it suitable for placing rivets even in very deep ducts and in other places that are otherwise hard to reach. The VK-AKZ notching pliers can be used to work on the walls of a cabling duct and break off the pegs all the way to the bottom. CONTA-CLIP also supplies miscellaneous accessories such as flexible cabling ducts, coiled tubing, wire holders, support lugs and expanding rivets.

Ultimate bench power supply New PWR-01 power supplies
Telonic Instruments announce the UK release of the new Kikusui PWR-01 series of wide-range benchtop programmable DC power supplies.
The PWR-01 series are versatile instruments with models offering 400W, 800W, and 1200W rated power output with maximum rated voltages up to 650V. Equipped with a 4-times voltage and current variable ratio, making this one of the most versatile range of DC power supplies on the market today, the PWR-01 provides flexible current and voltage for a variety of applications.
Variable internal impedance is a unique new feature that allows for various types of simulations suitable for automotive test and other battery-driven applications as well as solar-panel evaluation.
The PWR-01 is also equipped with a soft-start function that limits the inrush current, minimizing any harmful effects to DUTs such as DC motors. The power supplies are also equipped with ergonomic power setting knobs, allowing the operator to control voltage and current independently, as well as front-facing banana plugs designed for safety and convenience.
The PWR-01 programmable internal-memory feature lets the engineer save custom sequences on the power supply, eliminating the need to access a PC every time a test is conducted.
Synchronized operation allows for more complex sequences over multiple channels for accurate testing of DC/DC converters and other products.
LAN (LXI), USB, and RS-232 interfaces are included as a standard; the PWR can be operated in almost any testing environment via SCPI commands, facilitating system integration.
Kikusui power supplies are available for both sale and hire from UK based Telonic Instruments Ltd.

optical inspection, barcode and data matrix reading, laser sensors, capacitive probes, pyrometers, optical fiber sensors for LEDs, minifixtures for boundary scan and On Board Programming, high-frequency probes able to measure signals at frequencies over 1.5 GHz (an absolutely unique performance on the market).
Engineered for medium/high volume production, the Pilot V8 Next> series is available in a fully- automated version, capable of hosting from 1 to 12 racks of boards to be tested (even of different types) or for direct connection to board loading/unloading and tilt modules, compatible with any standard assembly line. The Pilot V8 Next> can be configured to satisfy the full range of different board test requirements: the HR version extends the performance to include probing of extremely miniaturized devices (down to 30 µm), while in the XL version expands the standard work area of 610 x 540 mm to 800 x 650 mm, able to accommodate and test “extra-large” boards.
In the line with Industry 4.0 Standards
All of the Next> series solutions have Seica’s Industrial Monitoring Solution on board, with the potential for remote monitoring of current and voltage consumption, mains supply, temperature, light indicators and other parameters useful to indicate correct operation, to provide information enabling predictive maintenance and in general to render the systems compatible with today’s Industry 4.0 standards.

New, impressive high contrast OLED displays
MMS Electronics Ltd now offers four models of the EA OLED displays. A small graphic EA OLEDS102-6 (102x64 pixel/36x25 VA), EA OLEDM128-6 (128x64/51x31 VA) and larger EA OLEDL128-6 (128x64/64x37 VA). The EA OLEDM204 is an alphanumeric display that functions as a 4x20, 3x20 or 2x20 display. The displays are a slim design and can be plugged into a 0.1” pitch socket or soldered directly into the PCB. No ZIF sockets, fasteners or glueing is required hence saving assembly cost. The displays offer excellent readability, high contrast, wide viewing angle and fast response time over the whole
temperature range of -40°C to +80°C. SPI and I2C Interface. The displays have a scratch and UV protective glass with a polarizer for a deep black background. Displays without the protective glass are available. An evaluation board EA 9781-1USB is available to help with development. MMS Electronics Ltd in Leeds is the authorised UK distributor for Electronic Assembly Gmbh/Display Visions.
