Advertorials Power Integrations’ SCALE-iDriver ICs now available
with AEC-Q100 Certification for automotive use Safe, reliable and reinforced isolation for applications up to 1200 V
Power Integrations (Nasdaq: POWI), the leader in gate-driver technology for medium- and high-voltage inverter applications, today announced that two members of its SCALE-iDriver™ gate-driver IC family are now certified to AEC-Q100 Grade Level 1 for automotive use. The two parts, SID1132KQ and SID1182KQ, are suitable for driving 650 V, 750 V and 1200 V automotive IGBT and SiC-MOSFET modules, and are rated for peak currents of +/-2.5 A and +/-8 A respectively. The SID1182KQ has the highest output current of any isolated gate driver available and is capable of driving a 600 A /1200 V and 820 A /750 V switch.
The SCALE-iDriver family of single-channel IGBT and SiC-MOSFET driver ICs features Power Integrations’ innovative FluxLink™ magneto-inductive bi-directional communication technology which ensures reinforced galvanic isolation between the primary and secondary sides, setting a new standard in isolation integrity and stability. FluxLink technology eliminates the need for opto-electronics, which suffer parametric changes with age and relentless thermal degradation that limits operational lifetime. Use of magnetically-coupled conductors locked into a homogenous thermoset, high quality insulation greatly enhances operational stability and longevity. The devices utilize Power Integrations’ compact and robust eSOP package, which offers a CTI level of 600, 9.5 mm creepage and clearance distance, and easily meets automotive 5500 m requirements.
SCALE-iDriver devices minimize the number of external components required, simplifying the BOM and permitting two-layer PCB layouts, which reduces interference and increases the reliability of the whole system. The automotive DC-DC converter for the secondary-side supply voltage is greatly simplified as only a unipolar voltage is required by the SCALE-iDriver IC. Built-in voltage and power management circuitry handles the necessary regulation of positive and negative gate-drive voltages. The IC features a full range of safety features including Advanced Soft Shut Down (ASSD) for short-circuit turn-off and under-voltage protection.

series from Nicomatic meets MIL 83513 EMM series suits harsh-environment defense applications
Nicomatic, a leading manufacturer of high- performance interconnect solutions, has announced the launch of a new, rugged micro connector, the 1.27 mm pitch EMM series, which targets defense and other high-reliability applications. Designed to meet the performance requirements of MIL 83513, EMM series connectors occupy 40% less space than previous-generation connectors from the company, are 20% smaller than Micro D connectors for 16- pin configurations and are around 10 percent smaller in footprint than the closest industry competitor.
iterations. The debugger system executes code, like an actual device, because it uses the target device’s built-in emulation circuitry, instead of a special debugger chip. All available features of the device are accessible interactively and can be set and modified by the MPLAB X IDE interface. Additionally, the board matches the silicon clocking speed of the target device, allowing engineers to run programs at the device’s maximum speed.
The board connects to a computer via high-speed USB 2.0 interface and can be connected to the target device through an 8-pin single in-line (SIL) header. The connector uses two device input/output (I/O) pins and the reset line to implement in-circuit debugging and In-Circuit Serial Programming™ (ICSP™) capability. Along with its support for a wide target voltage range of 1.20V to 5.5V, the MPLAB Snap supports advanced interfaces such as 4-wire JTAG and Serial Wire Debug with streaming data gateway. It is also backward compatible for demo boards, headers and target systems using 2-wire JTAG and ICSP.

Industry’s smallest through-hole reed relay launched by
Pickering Electronics Tiny footprint relays feature very fast operate and release times making them ideal for high speed test systems.
Pickering Electronics, the reed relay company which has pioneered miniaturisation and high performance for over 50 years, has announced industry’s smallest reed relay. The Series 124 is part of Pickering’s new ultra-high density 4mm2 TM reed relay range product line, which takes up the minimum board area of only 4mm x 4mm, allowing the highest packing density possible. Series 124 relays are also the lowest profile on the 4 x 4mm footprint, measuring just 9.5mm high. Devices are currently available in 1 Form A (energize to make) with options of 3 or 5 volt coils.
Series 124 reed relays feature a sputtered ruthenium switch rated at 5 watts, 0.5 amps. These are the same reed switches as used in the long-established Pickering
Series 111, 111P and 117 but are orientated vertically within the package, facilitating such high density.
The relays boast very fast operate times, typically 80µs, making them ideal for high speed test systems, and due to the incredibly small size they are also suitable for very high-density applications such as A.T.E. and Semiconductor switching matrices or multiplexers.
These single pole relays are the second series to be launched within Pickering’s new ultra-high- density product line – Series 120 devices were released at Semicon West last year, rated up to a 1.0 Amp at 20 Watts, but with a higher profile height of 15.5mm.

Innovative design features such as reversed contacts, integrated 90° back protection and
interchangeable hardware, ensures that the new EMM connector series combines rugged design with enhanced electrical and environmental performance. Signal contacts are rated for up to 3A, and deliver a wiping length of 1.27mm with 1.27µm gold plating to ensure that signal integrity is maintained while under conditions of heavy shock and vibration. Devices are rated for up to 45 G vibration, exceeding EIA 364-28E test conditions III&IV, up to 160 G for shock, exceeding EIA 364-27B G, and for an operational temperature range of -65 to +260°C exceeding EIA 364-32D.
Suited for both board-to-board (due to its secure wiping length), and board-to-wire (from AWG 24 to 30) applications, EMM connectors are available with any pin selection from 04 to 60 signal contacts. More, Nicomatic uses modular manufacturing technology, so all configurations are available on very quick turn-around. Cabled versions can be assembled at Nicomatic, or by the customer.
