Nicomatic expands UK custom connector team with appointment of specialist Field Applications Engineer, Quentin Rillié Custom interconnect solutions designed and delivered within 3 – 12 weeks from initial request
Nicomatic has expanded its UK team with the addition of highly-experienced custom connector specialist, Quentin Rillié, Field Applications Engineer, Custom Solutions, who has transferred to the UK operation from Nicomatic’s headquarters and manufacturing facility in France. Quentin has specialized in the design of Nicomatic custom solutions since joining the company some three years ago and brings his significant experience of solving more challenging design problems direct to the company’s UK customer base. Nicomatic designs and manufactures over a thousand custom solutions
every year, solving customer design challenges to find the optimum solution for applications needing high-speed transmission, signal integrity and reliable performance under space-constrained or challenging environments, or where standard solutions are overly-complex, or simply no longer available. Experts in rugged connectors for aerospace, defence, medical and rail markets, Nicomatic supplies custom connectors in short lead times and with no minimum order requirement. Managing Director, Phil McDavitt comments: ”Due to our modular manufacturing methods, Nicomatic
standard connector ranges offer hundreds of thousands of configurations, but there are multiple instances where a custom solution really is the optimum solution, adding technical capability to a system, saving weight and space and even saving cost when all “hidden cost/time” factors are taken into account. Having Quentin’s vast experience in designing custom solutions here in the UK means our team can work directly face-to-face with UK customers or even co-design within their teams if wished. We are delighted to welcome him.”

Comprehensive range of miniature and sub miniature ABS plastic enclosures
Terrington Components stock a vast selection of British manufactured ABS enclosures for a multitude of specialised industries and applications. They are ideal for packaging of small electronic systems, miniature PCB’s and devices such as miniature IoT sensory devices. We have developed
our own range of screw lid, flanged mounted and push together screwless style enclosures and potting boxes since the early 1980’s and originally worked and developed specific sized enclosures on several projects for Maplin Electronics group. Terrington Components concentrate on the miniature and sub-miniature sizes of the general plastic enclosure market with our screw lid range available in standard, deep, long and square combinations. Most sizes are available in various popular colours and our range of inhouse processes from CNC machining through to engraving help to remove the inconvenience of either sub-contracting out or having to produce the finished enclosure in-house.

Energy Harvesting by ZF – Committing to a Sustainable Technology
Auerbach. In recent years, the topic of sustainability has gained enormous importance throughout ZF. Our greatest impact worldwide lies in the technologies we provide. Energy harvesting technology is part of this commitment to
provide an alternative solution to an ever-increasing world of smart home technology, building automation and industrial installations. ZF’s battery-free and wireless RF pushbutton module is now being
celebrated with the launch of ZF’s stamp ‘Energy Harvesting by ZF’. Partners can use ZF’s new stamp to help market their products using the compact generator by highlighting their commitment to a sustainable technology.
Wireless. Battery-free. Maintenance-free. A tiny and compact generator (20.1 x 7.3 x 14.3 mm) produces enough energy by pressing the button by means of induction, so that it can reliably transmit RF commands to a paired receiver. As a wireless solution it guarantees flexibility and the possibility to retrofit easily according to individual requirements. As a battery-free solution and with a lifetime of 1,000,000 switching cycles, maintenance and disposal requirements of battery replacements can be avoided. The RF light switch module from ZF is the only one which is directly compatible with the RF standard
KNX-RF and it supports the RF standard EnOcean3.0 too. In cooperation with onsemi, ZF has published a reference design for an Energy Harvesting Bluetooth5.0® Low Energy switch and a demo light switch module. It is compatible with standard frames and can also be combined with customer-specific control and design panels.
