are known for rough handling and movement of heavy loads, something that all parts of the strapping system must withstand. Thus, physical robustness was another key requirement.
Mascot charging solutions have separate red and black DC cords and battery terminal clips as standard. While this may be considered easy to use in a technical setting, it increases the risk of swapped connections. To meet the simplicity of use needs, ErgoPack had defined industrial- grade connectors from Neutrik and Rosenberger that offered the robustness and operational longevity demanded in a logistics centre. The Mascot research and
development team, together with EPH, also tackled a wide range of other changes. The Model 2641 LA’s DC cable fastening was adapted to strengthen its retainment, and an epoxy filling was added to meet the target IP rating. Mascot’s easily recognised charge process indicator remains, providing users a clear overview of the charging process

(Figure 4). Orange indicates the Boost Charge stage, a constant-current output where the increasing battery voltage is monitored. A change to yellow indicates the Top-Up Charge stage in constant voltage mode. Finally, the green indicator shows
the battery is fully charged but ready to boost charge if needed.

While only a small part of the whole system, ErgoPack understands that a customer’s experience with their product’s charger is as important as with their strapping system. The environments where their products are used require robustness, reliability, availability, and, above all, simplicity of use, both when strapping and charging. Thanks to the close cooperation of the Mascot engineering team with ErgoPack and its partners, standard lead-acid battery chargers could be adapted to the custom requirements of the ErgoPack E-conomy Line of strapping systems.
