Telonic Instruments introduces compact PCR-WE/WE2 AC/DC power supply range T

elonic Instruments ships Kikusui’s latest compact switching power supplies, designed to reduce power consumption and costs for testing in a wide range of markets.

The PCR-WE/WE2 series of multi- functional switching AC power supplies range from 1 kVA to 36 kVA AC/DC output with frequency conversion from 1Hz to 5kHz. They can simulate power line abnormalities such as power outages, voltage dips and voltage peaks for testing power source switches and electronic devices. They are well suited to a wide range of diverse market segments: electric vehicles (EVs); plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHVs); avionics; servers; power and EMC equipment.

The Kikusui high performance, PWM inverter type AC power supplies range from 1kVA to 36 kVA AC/DC output. This series, available from Telonic Instruments, includes single phase versions (the PCR10000WE and PCR20000WE) or models with switchable single phase / single phase three-wire / three phase output (PCR30000WE2, PCR60000WE2, PCR120000WE2, PCR180000WE2, PCR240000WE2, PCR30000WE2 and PCR36000WE2).

The PCR-WE/WE2 series supports mix- and-match parallel operation for large scale test systems up to 144 kVA (6 kVA models and above, with a maximum of four units).

These compact supplies are up to 60 per cent smaller than Kikusui’s earlier PWM models, to occupy minimal space in a testing system, while efficiency has been increased by approximately 7 per cent, to realise an overall efficiency of 85 per cent. Power and energy density have been increased compared with the earlier PCR series. For example, the PCR60000WE2 (430 x 620 x 345mm or 16.9 x 24.4 x 13.5 inches) provides 6 kVA in a 4U unit. The small form factor has been achieved without compromising ripple noise performance. The supplies have extremely low switching noise, with ripple noise as low as 0.25Vrms for the 1 kVA to 6 kVA models. Output frequency up to 5 kHz. This

frequency performance allows the sharp voltage fluctuations, required in airborne electronic equipment testing to be simulated for use in avionic and defence markets. In addition, the 6 kVA / 6U form factor fits easily into an automated rack testing system without requiring space for an expensive, specialised power source installation. These versatile PCR-WE/WE2 series supplies have LAN, USB and RS232C interfaces, with a GPIB interface available as a factory option. The LAN connection is LXI-compliant, allowing the user to monitor and control the device from a computer, smartphone or tablet web browser. As well as flexible working, this feature is particularly useful when conducting AC tests in anechoic chambers or shielded rooms. To save power, models

Waterproof USB Micro B and Type C Receptacles feature IP67 ratings

C

UI’s Interconnect Group has launched several waterproof USB connectors, with Ingress

Protection (IP) ratings of IP67, to its USB product family. Offering protection from moisture and environmental contaminants, the connectors are available in USB Micro B and Type C receptacle formats, while conforming to either the USB 2.0 or USB 3.1 Gen 2 standard, depending on the model. CUI’s USB receptacles feature surface mount and mid mount SMT mounting styles in vertical or horizontal orientations, with several models designed with plastic mounting tabs for greater stability on the PCB. Rated up to 10,000 mating cycles and carrying operating temperature ranges from -40 up to 85°C, these waterproof USB connectors are a highly reliable solution for consumer and portable electronic devices. All models are also reflow solder compatible adding to their flexibility during the assembly process.

6 February 2019

Meeting the USB 3.1 Gen 2 standard, the UJ31-CH-3-MSMT-TR-67 USB Type C connector series further supports data transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps and power delivery up to 100 W at 20 V. This makes it a highly rugged, versatile connector for a variety of I/O applications in consumer and portable electronics, including smartphones, wearables, and industrial automation equipment. These waterproof USB connectors are available immediately with prices starting at $1.93 per unit at 1500 pieces through distribution.
