elevated effi ciency levels and superior thermal performance (so less heatsinking is needed). The 8-channel TPD2017FN low-side switch has a supply voltage range that goes from 2.7V to 5.5V. As a result, it can work with the TTL logic voltages (3.3V/5V) being used by system microcontroller units (MCUs). This presents greater convenience for engineers with regard to industrial system deployment,


as the switching arrangement can be made much simpler.


The new power switches are both supplied in compact SSOP30 format packaging (with dimensions of just 9.7mm × 7.6mm × 1.2mm). Consequently, board real estate utilisation is minimal and a lower profi le is realised. To ensure ongoing operational reliability, both switches have built-in over-current and over-


temperature protection features. A -40°C to +110°C operational temperature range is supported, meaning that even the harshest of ambient conditions can be coped with.


Conclusion


The selection of robust, performance- enhanced high-side and low-side power switches, such as the ones described in this


article, will offer tangible advantages across an extensive array of applications relating to modern industrial processing and production activities. The upshot of this is that they will contribute to more widespread adoption of factory automation technology.
