Advertorials Expansion case with insertable cover panel GD

The integration of PCBs or electronic components in a closed case is especially problematic if it is equipped with connectors on various sides, displays or switches and to be implemented through openings in the case wall or cover panel from the outside. For such applications company Fischer Elektronik offers their customers an extended case series GD which is characterized by a particularly installation-friendly design and various functional properties.

Ace your next display project with products from Lascar Electronics

Lascar’s PanelPilotACE is a unique software and hardware display platform ideal for rapid development of touchscreen machine interfaces and control monitoring displays. Available in 4.3” and 7” versions, these capacitive colour touchscreen devices have a wealth of hardware interfaces, and Design Studio software that allows app development using a drag and drop interface. Absolutely no coding is required. Hardware interfaces on the device include bipolar analogue inputs, eight digital input/output pins, alarm outputs and PWM outputs, making it a very capable display across a range of applications. Development kits including a display and development board for testing all the input/output functionality are also available.

The free PanelPilotACE Design Studio software is available at www.lascarelectronics.com/software/panelpilotace/ and offers an emulator, to design and test your interface for free before buying any hardware. A recent software update has added PID control, wired Ethernet for transfer of logged data via FTP, multi-channel data logging and trend graphs. These join the already popular protocols of RS485 & MODBUS. Lascar’s online PanelPilotACE University at https://www.lascarelectronics.com/panelpilotace-university/ shares templates and graphics to use in your display project as well video tutorials for basic and advanced users.

Lascar’s most recent code-free addition is the SGD 21-B - a low cost, low power, sunlight readable, single channel voltmeter with a sleek, 250 x 122 pixel monochrome e-paper display. The unit is configured with free-to- download PanelPilot B software available at www.lascarelectronics.com/software/panelpilot-b/. The software provides six analogue and digital voltmeter Apps to choose from, which can be customised to suit your individual application. Settings that can be changed in the software include custom labels, scaling and alarms. A splash screen can also be added to the display on power-up for branding with your company’s logo. Modest power requirements of 2.5mW make this display ideal for use in battery-powered handheld instruments, with typical applications being thermometers, pH meters and gas detectors.

Lascar Electronics has a team of sales engineers that can help you with any queries that you have about your display project, just call 01794 884567 or visit our website at www.panelpilot.com. If you would like your display product designed for you, we also offer a “one-stop” Custom Design service, so please call us to discuss your requirements.

The new, one-side open, U-shaped case profiles have integrated guide slots for the insertion of electronic components or PCBs as well as insertable cover panels, which can vary in the material thickness and therefore in stability. By means of a mechanical treatment of the cover panels various devices such as LCDs, connectors, etc. can be mounted easily and inserted in the U-profile afterwards together. The fixing of the cover panel is made by front and back cover panels with inboard shadow gap which does not only balance production tolerances, but also avoids a deflection of the cover panel. Due to the special geometry of the aluminum profile the insertion of membrane key pads or front foils as well as nearly all printings on the external surfaces is possible. The case series GD is available in six different seizes (100, 120, 160, 200, 220, 234 mm) as well as the surface finishes “black” or “natural colour anodized” as a standard. For samples and customised prototypes the case profiles are also available in a length of 1000 mm.

In addition to the standard designs the cases can be machined upon customer's request, surface-treated and printed.

The product specialists at Fischer Elektronik www.fischerelektronik.de will be happy to assist you with any queries you may have or any additional information you require.

smithsinterconnect.com Omron stays connected with wide range of FPCs

Omron Electronic Components Europe offers time savings with its Rotary Backlock FPC connector range. The XF series of FPC connectors is a popular and space effective option for interconnecting PCBs and connecting boards to displays.

Omron’s backlock on the XF2M and XF3M ranges gives the benefit of reducing the risk of the cable movement lifting the locking mechanism in use. The rotary latch is independent of the FPC socket and will not release if the FPC is lifted.

Omron’s XF series of FPC connectors

The mounting reliability is further enhanced due to the four-sided housing that holds the FPC preventing displacement. The dual-sided contact also provides flexibility for engineers at the designing stage and the applicable FPC/FFC thickness is just 0.3mm (Gold-plated type). The range includes connectors with between 6 and 60 pins available on reels of 100 or 1500 pcs. Pitch sizes range from 0.25mm to 0.5mm.
