Advertorials Medical panel PC market
We've been seeing considerable activity recently in the medical panel PC market with the latest model from Wincomm. To the layman medical units appear the same as normal commercial ones but there are a number of subtle differences. From anti-bacterial plastic housing to the removal of slots and recesses make this an interesting choice. The I/O for example, both Lan and digital I/O have 4KV isolation; it wouldn't do to electrocute the patient. Equally treatment must continue even if the mains power fails. That's where the internal battery option come into play.
The WMP-17F is a 17" panel PC with a choice of I-Core CPUs and is specifically designed for the demands of the medical environment and it is fully certified to EN60601-1/ISO 14971/IEC62133.
There's more to buying computer products than simple specmanship. It's worth some discussion before rushing to buy the cheapest. The basic specification is only part of the story. Our team are always on hand to advise.

Innovative customised HMI Systems
EAO, the expert partner for Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), develops innovative customised HMI Systems, with intuitive design and reliable operation. A machine’s operator device must meet numerous requirements to function reliably in industrial environments. To be successful, the front design must provide flexible configuration and the mounting process must be simple and quick – even in very tight spaces.
EAO Smart Box is a simple and customisable “snap-on, plug & play” solution for operator devices in industrial environments that can include on/off, up/down or emergency stop functions in CNC machines or semiconductor production. Alongside a broad standard range, customised solutions are also available to meet the needs of the user.
The robust construction combined with front protection of up to IP67 enables reliable switching – even at operating temperatures ranging from – 25°C to + 70°C (depending on the integrated products), in dirty environments and under high humidity or severe vibration.

to 36W and protect to IP67 Powersolve, specialists in power supplies for the widest range of applications, announces three new series of plastic encapsulated AC-DC converters that offer protection to IP67 and are therefore suitable for use where the ingress of liquid and dust need to be avoided.
The PS12MK, PS20MK and PS36MK Series are switch mode power supplies that provide 10 to 36W from the universal input range of 90 to 264VAC. Output voltages across the 15 models in the PS12MK, PS20MK and PS36MK Series range from 5 to 24VDC.
They can be either chassis or wall mounted, feature Class II Safety and use less than 0.3W max when not under load. Input/output isolation is 3000V.
All models in the series feature overvoltage, short circuit and over current protection and meet all relevant EMC and safety approvals. Operating temperature range is -10 to 40ºC.
The PS12MK unit measures 56 x 39 x 2mm, the PS20MK 64 x 47 x 28mm and the PS36MK unit 133 x 50 x 34mm.

Omron Electronic Components Europe introduces a new series of DIP switches with 18 models delivering improved reliability and usability.
The new Omron A6FR series DIP switches are more convenient to configure with the finger, due to their piano style buttons, which is a welcome feature for most users. The range is available in either ON or OFF set soldering making them very easy to design in.
The A6FR offers higher reliability through its twin slide contact mechanisms that give better contact than standard single contact push motion plates. The series has 18 models with between 2 and 10 poles and either short or long actuators, catering for a wide range of applications. The new range of Piano DIP switches is offered with through hole terminals, contact resistance of 200m max and ratings of 25mA 24VDC. The series is perfect for applications in industrial equipment, commercial devices and computer peripherals.

four variants ROLEC’s handCASE metal enclosures for handheld industrial electronics are now available in four variants.
High performance handCASE is designed for mobile control applications in challenging environments. These diecast aluminium cases are light and comfortable to hold for long periods but tough enough to withstand extreme working conditions.
Two base versions are available: one closed for external power supply; the other with an ABS battery compartment (4 x AA or 2 x 9V). Each base can be specified with a choice of two lids, both recessed to accommodate a membrane keypad or product label. There are threaded screw bosses in the base and lid for the installation of PCBs.
Robust handCASE is manufactured from diecast aluminium for the ideal balance of strength and lightness. It is rated IP 66 as standard. IP 67 ingress protection is optional.
