Footwear Friends Annual Awards 2019
Stand Sales are soaring at Harrogate Fashion Week
The latest new name to sign up for next seasons show is Marble, joining a great line up of brands showing for the first time in January - Veromia Occasions, Irresistible, Dents, Parka London, Alice Collins, Working Wardrobe, Blundstone, Jayley, Dressed Up, Dress Code and Picadilly. This year’s Footwear Annual Awards presentations were held on the 9th October 2019 at The Crypt on the Green at Clerkenwell Green. The Awards recognise the extraordinary entrepreneurial talent emerging in the footwear trade.
The winners in the various categories were:
The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers Award for Innovation: Ottowin was awarded a £ 5,000 bursary aimed at developing a Young Designer/Manufacturing/Retail business with a strong brand identity. The Award was generously sponsored by the livery company and includes a 12-month mentoring programme by industry experts. The Master of the Worshipful Company of Cordwainers, Col. Nigel Easton QVRM TD, presented the Directors of Ottowin, Lucy Lloyd and Oliver Cross with the prize.
The Micro-Pak Limited Award: This award of £ 2,500 plus 12-months mentoring programme was presented to Mon Fred by Ben Wright and sponsored by Micro-Pak Limited. Fred Scheckter, Managing Director of the business was present to receive his award.
The British Footwear Award: The 2019 award went to Auxiliary. The BFA Award winner will receive a year’s membership with the Association. The Award was presented to Matthew Taylor, Managing Director of the business by Lucy Reece-Raybould of the British Footwear Association.
The judges this year were Malcolm Collins, Louise Green, Susan O’Hare,
Guy West and Ben Wright, who all have many years’ experience within the footwear industry.
Malcolm Collins of Footwear Friends commented: “Again we were very
impressed by the quality of work that is being done. It is always difficult to choose between so much talent but we feel that the winners were those who not only had exciting product but business acumen as well, and as such will develop into major players in the footwear industry.”

January show, and being the first in the season with great early dates has put us ahead of our competition. Exhibitors need to know that as organisers we are aware that trading conditions aren't brilliant at the moment, and our service and prices reflect that.

Hotter strengthens team: Adam Griggs appointed as CFO Adam Griggs
Private Equity owned footwear brand Hotter has appointed Adam Griggs as Chief Financial Officer.
CEO Ian Watson said: “I am
delighted to welcome Adam, whose appointment significantly strengthens our leadership team. His experience in FTSE250 and PE backed companies is the perfect fit for Hotter and he will play a key role in our commercial strategy and development across UK and international markets.”
Adam, who joins Hotter from restaurant chain Bistrot Pierre, will lead
the company’s Finance and IT teams. Based in Lancashire and established in 1959, Hotter is an international omnichannel retailer with a growing digital base.
