Novaltia ships up to 120,000 items a day to pharmacies, with up to five deliveries per day. Novaltia has worked with logistics automation provider, KNAPP, since 1999 and uses a variety of picking methods at the Zaragoza site including A-frame autopickers, pick-to-light workstations served by an OSR Shuttle™ automated storage system and a vertical carousel. The various warehouse areas are connected by a high-performance conveyor system and KNAPP’s KiSoft software plans the workflow and controls the different fulfilment systems.

The robot is fed by the OSR Shuttle™ store and uses KNAPP’s KiSoft Vision image recognition technology to identify the optimum article to pick from a tote and calculate the ideal grip point. Combining flexibility, reliability and performance, the robot cell comprises with an articulated arm robot, changeable grippers, specialised software and comprehensive safety devices. Pick-it-Easy Robot is able to maintain a consistently high throughput rate and accuracy level over long periods in the picking of slow- to medium-moving articles.
