Advanced Valve Solutions (UK) Ltd Announce HP and IP Workshop/Seminar

Alicat Mass Flow Controllers Powers MDC’s XpressStick Gas Delivery Module

MFC Gas Stick. With precision control of gas flows of up to 20SLPM and onboard display, Alicat’s MCE provides gas programming functionality to the gas connection module, which links pressurized gas inputs to vacuum chambers. The Alicat MCE accurately controls gas flow rates as low

A

as 0-0.5 sccm full scale or as high as 0-20 slpm full scale. With 20 to 50 millisecond control response times to setpoint changes, the MCE improves vacuum coating end products and helps eliminate target poisoning. The all-in-one design of the XpressStick MFC gas

stick eliminates complex hardware specification in processes which include a combination of specialty gases, pressure, precise regulation, and vacuum. Its easy programming and precise gas control system allows users to go from bottle to process in one simple step. Designed to meet ultra-high purity process requirements, the XpressStick is also offered in a stainless steel model for corrosive environments.

provision of reliable and robust valves into Power Stations across Europe. Their approach to business, they claim, is one of consultation and innovation. Solutions offered is a custom ‘fit for purpose’ one that ensured increased product/process life cycle and significant improvements in plant efficiency. In many cases the increased efficiency has saved many hundreds of thousands of pounds per year. Lunch and refreshments are free of charge.

RRC in Manchester

will be on stand N9 to answer any questions you may have on RRC’s HSE training and consultancy services. Over the two days we will be offering discounted places on our Manchester NEBOSH Certificate, Diploma and IOSH courses or if you want to travel further afield for your training, the RRC team can do you a deal for our Newcastle, Leeds or Birmingham centres.

R NEW at the show this year will be our brand new online

courses for the NEBOSH National and International Environmental Diploma’s, and the NEBOSH Process Safety Management Certificate. If you are looking for ways to train groups of staff that offer you great value for money, talk to the RRC team about our in-company training and annual training contracts for our open and online courses. And don’t forget to enter our prize draw for a chance to win a NEBOSH Certificate course.

Select hearing protection now available thanks to latest Cirrus' doseBadge5 update

T

he industry-leading doseBadge5 noise dosimeter is now available with octave bands filters allowing for effective and accurate selection that enhances employee hearing protection.

This new function runs alongside the doseBadge5's ongoing assessment of noise exposure but allows for more

detailed analysis of noise sources with the additional data helping H&S managers select hearing protection or review noise control measures. This new feature is just the latest in a number of key upgrades to the doseBadge5 which was launched in 2016.

Additional features include: wireless Bluetooth® connectivity, scheduled measurement timers, tamper detection as well as extensive data logging and analysis. James Tingay, Cirrus Research Marketing Manager, said: "Having insight into the frequency content of measured

noise levels can be critical when there's a need to select appropriate PPE. "Not only does this new feature provide details of the overall Leq in each octave band, it also stores a detailed

time history or noise profile of each band throughout the measurement. It is perfect all-round noise dosimeter that can meet the needs of even the most demanding of Noise at Work scenarios." Technically, the doseBadge5 allows PPE to be assessed against specific sections of a measurement, allowing for

more effective selection of PPE, for example, when there may only be a need to wear hearing protection for certain tasks. Selecting PPE based on a whole measurement may end up over-protecting a worker, making their job harder and incurring unnecessary costs. "Overall, the doseBadge5 provides an extensive range of occupational noise parameters and is the ideal tool for

noise exposure assessments against the Noise at Work Regulations - this new capability extends the already comprehensive feature list," added James.

Fiberguide Partners with Micron Optics

Optics to manufacture their line of fiber Bragg grating optical sensors. The sensors are ideal for distributed sensing of stress, temperature, strain, displacement and acceleration on machinery, equipment, planes, buildings, bridges and other devices and structures. The sensors are a product of a Micron Optics design,

O

and Fiberguide’s construction expertise and process refinement. Bragg gratings written inside the sensors’ optical fiber core behave like mirrors that reflect light at a specific wavelength based on the periodicity of the grating. Exposure to strain or temperature causes a shift in the reflected wavelength, proportional to the change in strain or temperature. Unlike commonly used electrical sensors, fiber Bragg sensors are not susceptible to signal degradation caused by long distances or electromagnetic interference. Fiber Bragg grating optical sensors are compact for

installation into small spaces. The sensors can also be multiplexed, allowing many sensors for multiple signals and locations in a single optical fiber.
