Versatile displays for PCB mounting

With the EA DOG series, DISPLAY VISIONS has a  COG displays with an integrated driver. Modest power consumption and usable in 3.3 V systems, they are particularly suitable as displays in handheld devices.

The compact text and graphic LCDs are less than 3 mm thick. Designed as

chip-on-glass displays,

the controller is already integrated into these displays. The text displays come with built-in character sets. These high-contrast displays can be soldered directly onto the PCB. They run with 3.3 V without auxiliary voltage and the current consumption is between 150 and 900 μA depending on the model and size. They are controlled using a 3 or 4-wire SPI, or, for some models, even using a 2-wire I²C or 4 or 8-bit data bus.

The text and graphic displays are currently available in 13 different sizes, from 55x31 mm to 94x67 mm. This includes 6 text displays with one to four lines and 7 graphic displays with resolutions between 102x64 pixels   blue background and black/white positive and negative FSTN. Technologies (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) and Teledyne e2v (NYSE:TDY) have developed a reference design for the implementation of compute-intensive space systems. The design, built around a

The reference design addresses two inherent challenges in space endeavors: weight and communication limitations. By reducing the number of components in the computing system and enabling computation at the edge, it helps to decrease latency and overcome communication restrictions.

The QLS1046-Space is part of Teledyne e2v’s Qormino® product portfolio and is based on a 64 bit Quad Arm® Cortex® A72 processor featuring an integrated 4 GB DDR4 memory. For this reason, the module requires a non-volatile memory for boot-up. In addition, two SONOS NOR Flash memories can be used for redundancy to meet space requirements.

Kontron K3921-N mSTX and K3921-H mSTX Motherboards with Intel® Core™

i3 Processors and Intel®

Kontron, a global leader in IoT/ Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), presents its latest motherboards K3921-N mSTX and K3921-H mSTX. The compact and reliable boards are “Made in Germany” and offer outstanding performance as well as functionality in a compact mini-STX format. They are ideally suited for applications in industrial automation, medical, digital signage, KIOSK, POS/POI and casino gaming. Samples will be available to customers from November 2023.

The industrial motherboard K3921-N mSTX supports the powerful

Core™ i3 processors and Intel® N-series processors (Alder Lake N) with the latest UHD Gen12 graphics based on the Intel® architecture. The successor of the popular D3544-S (Intel®

Intel® Xe Gemini

Lake platform) is equipped with numerous features such as two DisplayPorts v1.4, one DisplayPort via front USB type-C, an embedded DisplayPort and a dual-channel LVDS (24bit). Up to three independent displays with 4K resolution (2x 4K and 1x FHD) can thus be supported. The K3921-N mSTX will be available for at least seven years and comes in four versions to meet individual requirements. Features such as 2x GbE LAN (1x 1GbE, 1x 2.5GbE) incl. teaming support, 2x COM ports and

adjustable CPU TDP make it ideally suited for various industrial Kontron AG www.kontron.com JULY/AUGUST 2023 | ELECTRONICS FOR ENGINEERS 65 N-series Processors

applications. The board features two M.2 connectors (for storage and WiFi) as well as other interfaces such as GPIO and USB 3.2 Gen2.

The K3921-H mSTX is the cost- optimized version of the K3921-N mSTX and meets individual requirements with slightly reduced functionality. It is equipped with the Intel® processor N100 and also offers 2x DisplayPort v1.4, 1x eDP and 1x USB Type-C (Alt mode). The board features a GbE LAN (without teaming support) and an M.2 Key-M connector

with expansion option for PCIe and SATA. Via the USB Type-C on the front, the K3921-H supports PowerDelivery Sink mode, USB 3.2 Gen1 and DisplayPort AlternateMode (DPoC). In combination with the compact SMARTCASE™ S501, the board is the perfect solution for Thin Client applications. The K3921-H mSTX is available for at least four years.

Both motherboards share common features such as support for up to 32GB of DDR5 4800 memory, dual power input (12 / 19-28V), M.2 Key-M (2230/2242/2280) and an M.2 Key-E slot (for WLAN-BT / PCIe and CNVi). In addition, both boards feature up to nine USB ports (USB 3.2 Gen1/2, USB 2.0). They are designed for 24/7 continuous operation in an extended temperature range (K3921-N: -10°C to +60°C, K3921-H: 0°C to +50°C). A matching SMARTCASE™ S501 will be available at the same time.
