Rugged RJ45 Connector System For Harsh Environments From Lane Electronics
PCIe 3.1 Ethernet bridges
using low-power sub-states enable power savings
M
icrochip announces the LAN7430/1 Ethernet bridge which provides new options for embedded and
automotive platform designers who are seeking Peripheral Component Interconnect Express® (PCIe®) 3.1 Low-Power Sub-State (LPSS) L1.1 and L1.2 for power savings.
The LAN7430 provides integrated power, clocks and an Ethernet physical (PHY) interface while the LAN7431 provides Reduced Gigabit Media-Independent Interface (RGMII) for alternative PHYs and switches. The LPSS L1.1 (snooze) and L1.2 (off) enable designers to reduce power consumption and improve battery life by snoozing or turning off the high-speed circuits in the PHY when not in use.
When connected to an application System on Chip (SoC) or processor as host, the LAN7430/1 allows the host device to deliver audio, data or video data through the 10/100/1000 Ethernet network.

designed to satisfy those applications where totally reliable Ethernet communications are needed in harsh environments. According to Lane, the new RJ45 connector system is designed to meet the requirements of VG95234 and is a cost effective solution compared to D38999 versions and more rugged than those developed to meet MIL-DTL-26482.
L
The connector system is secure, resistant to water ingress and vibration and, importantly, withstands “pulling” on the cable in applications such as automation, process control and outdoor military communications.
Manufactured by the connector specialist Allied Connectors, the new RJ45 connector system comprises a panel mount receptacle and a male plug connector and, when mated, provides protection to IP67. The connector system is designed to be used with shielded Cat6A cables and features internal grounding.
The panel mount connector has been designed to allow two female Ethernet sockets to be mounted back-to-back so that an RJ45 male connector can be mated on either side. On the outer side of the panel the connector mates with the plug connector that houses the male RJ45 connector.
The shell is made from Aluminium Alloy with Nickel plating as standard. Other finishes and backshell types are available on request.
Lane Electronics is an ideal source for all key connector types including circular, filtered, RF, coaxial, sub – miniature, backshells and adaptors, D connectors, aerospace, test & measurement, IDC, PCB connectors, edge connectors and connectors for rack and panel applications

TE Connectivity and Yamaichi Electronics to produce and promote new M12 push-pull connectors
T
E Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, is teaming up with Yamaichi Electronics (Yamaichi) to produce and promote a new design of push-pull M12 circular metric connector with an inner locking
design for various industrial applications. The two companies are cooperating to campaign for the design to be included in a new IEC standard for M12 connectors with push-pull locking. Technical cooperation between the two companies will lead to the introduction of different versions of the
connectors in the coming months. Overmolded connectors with A, B, D-coding are already available and the portfolio will be enlarged with field assembly types and further codings soon. This will quickly put TE and Yamaichi in a position to support the market with a broad product portfolio that will enable customers to introduce the new technology into their devices. The market for M12 connectors with a push-pull interface is currently fragmented, owing to suppliers offering
mutually incompatible designs. TE and Yamaichi will work together to establish Yamaichi’s design with inner locking as the accepted standard as defined by the IEC. Yamaichi submitted its original proposal for the standard last year. An important advantage of the Yamaichi design is that it is compatible with standard M12 connectors. Additionally, its push-pull locking mechanism allows fast and secure locking and unlocking – by only requiring the same outer space compared to standard screw type versions. Another feature is the possibility to integrate the connector into the device, junction box etc.

he new 1551V miniature ventilated sensor enclosures from Hammond Electronics are designed to house
sensors and small sub-systems installed in the manufacturing environment as part of IoT systems. While there is no relevant international standard, the 1551V enclosures are designed around the PCB sizes selected by leading sensor manufacturers for their latest generations of products. The ABS UL94-HB 1551V is available in black, grey and white as standard; four plan sizes, 80 x 80, 80 x 40, 60 x 60 and 40 x 40mm are all 20mm high, maximum PCB sizes are 74 x 74, 74 x 34, 54 x 54 and34 x 34mm respectively. Four PCB mounts are moulded into the base and the
20mm height gives enough space for board-mounted RJ45, USB and other standard communication interfaces. To simplify access, the snap-fit closure allows repeated opening and closing without tools.
