LATTICE SEMICONDUCTOR APPOINTS MARK NELSON

appointment of Mark Nelson as the company’s Corporate Vice President of Worldwide Sales, effective immediately. Mr. Nelson brings extensive sales experience, industry knowledge, customer focus, and general management skills to his new role. Prior to Lattice, Mr. Nelson was Vice President and General Manager of Worldwide Sales for Intel Corporation’s Programmable Solutions Group (PSG). Jim Anderson, President and Chief Executive Officer,

L

said, “We are very pleased to welcome Mark to Lattice as we continue to attract high caliber talent to our team. Mark’s impressive experience in the FPGA industry as a global sales leader at Altera and Intel PSG, his broad industry expertise, and his track record of driving profitable growth are a perfect fit. Over the past few months, we have assembled an outstanding team of proven leaders, as we focus on execution and building value for the company and shareholders.”

attice Semiconductor Corporation a leading provider of programmable logic devices, announced the

T Rittal’s Edge Solutions at DCW 2019

he revolution that is 'edge' will be front and centre on Rittal’s Stand #D610 at Data Centre World, London, from 12- 13 March 2019.

The products on display will include the company’s Edge Data Centre which offers offer an end-to-end product

with standardised, preconfigured IT infrastructure. Also at the show will be LCP DX cooling solutions and the company’s innovative RiMatrix Containerised Data

Centre. The advance of edge computing, which essentially provides computing resources at the perimeter of a given

network, has been rapid as a consequence of growing technological demands for low latency, local data processing and high autonomy of infrastructure, system-wide security and high bandwidth. The focus is typically on the immediate processing capacity required at the source of data making it as fast and secure as possible. The need for edge computing can easily be seen in “smart” production systems, where sensors and actuators

continually relay information on the status of processes and infrastructure. This forms the basis for innovative services such as alerts, predictive maintenance, and machine self-optimisation, delivered by the company’s IT department in real time. For this to happen, and for quick responses to events and anomalies, it’s critical to have low latency between production and the IT infrastructure. Clive Partridge, Rittal’s Technical Manager for IT Infrastructure advises: “DCW is always a very busy show for us

and we’re delighted to be able to showcase such an exciting portfolio of products, all designed to help customers take advantage of innovations such as edge computing.

250W conduction-cooled/550W fan-cooled PSU in miniature 3x5in package

F

idus Power, the technical power supply distributor specializing in innovative solutions and new products that benefit system designers as

they seek to differentiate their end products, now has available a series of miniature, 3x5in PSUs that can deliver 250W when conduction-cooled or 550W fan-cooled and are approved for industrial and medical use. Using a two-level PCB construction, the new PSUs feature a baseplate with

all the key semiconductors attached, allowing direct cooling into the system chassis, heatsink or cold-wall. With efficiencies to 92% and the ability to remove heat to the outside world, minimal waste-heat is generated into the system and keeping internal ambient temperature rise to a minimum. The PSUs have a 90-264VAC input range and six models are available with 12 to 58VDC output, plus a built in 12V fan rail.

Highly stable and accurate accelerometers from Murata now at TTI, Inc.

N

ow in stock in Europe at TTI, Inc., a world leading specialist distributor of electronic components, are Murata’s accelerometers

featuring 3D MEMS technology. The extensive accelerometer product range includes high performance digital and analog accelerometers for both safety critical automotive and high performance industrial applications. The products are based on Murata’s proprietary 3D MEMS technology and they offer a number of excellent product features and benefits for the most demanding applications, e.g. Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assistance (HSA), Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), 2-axis acceleration measurements, 360° vertical orientation measurement, only to name a few. The sensing element and the measuring ASIC are environmentally protected with silicone gel resulting in excellent performance and reliability at temperature cycling. In addition, the robust sensing element design with over damped frequency response enables excellent performance even in harsh and vibrating environments. The measuring direction is parallel or perpendicular to the mounting plane.

New range of popular high power current sense resistors

N

ow available in Europe through TTI, Inc., a world leading specialist distributor of electronic components,

are CSS series high power current sense resistors from Bourns. The devices come in both 2-terminal and 4- terminal versions. The 2-terminal models are available in three different footprint sizes: 5930, 3920 and 2512 (6332 Metric). With resistance values as low as 0.2mΩ, each family will have a range of low resistance options and power ratings of up to 15W. The 4-terminal designs allow for high precision 4kelvin resistance measurements and are available in size 4026.

CSS series products benefit from excellent long term

stability, low inductance, low thermal EMF, and are fully AEC-Q200 compliant. Custom versions are available upon request. The main target applications are current sensing, battery management systems, power modules/motor controllers, as well as frequency converters.
