MICA now available with a secondary Ethernet interface

T OKW’s CONNECT Wired

Enclosures Now In Black Too O

KW’s CONNECT enclosures for wired electronics are now available as standard in black (RAL 9005) as well as the

existing off-white (RAL 9002). CONNECT can hang suspended from a cable, be

handheld or lay flat on a desk. Each enclosure comprises two sections: one flat with a recessed panel to accommodate a membrane keypad or product label; the other convex to make it comfortable to hold. Rounded corners enhance the ergonomics. Smart snap-together construction means that no fixing

screws are required. The enclosures have open apertures at each end. They can be fitted with accessory end plastic panels, or cable glands with integrated strain relief. There are four PCB fixing pillars inside the flattened case shell. Three sizes are available as standard: 54 mm x 22 mm in

lengths of either 76, 116 or 156 mm. Although the enclosures are designed for indoor use, they are moulded from UV-stable ASA+PC-FR (UL 94 V-0). The enclosures can be supplied fully customised.

he industrially-suited MICA Edge Computer is now available with a secondary Ethernet interface. It can be used to easily exchange and

process data between two Ethernet networks, including wired-to-wireless gateway applications. With many Industry 4.0 applications, it is necessary to separate networks and send data back and forth between Ethernet protocols without permitting external applications direct access to a corporate network. As a result, HARTING has added a second interface for these applications to its MICA Edge Computing device. An additional USB interface can also be used for adding further capabilities or a USB storage device. This is because, unlike a router, MICA can also carry out complex data transformations and aggregations. The secondary Ethernet interface is provided via the functional circuit board and expands the modular system of the MICA platform. In particular, MICA Wireless with WLAN, BLE and LTE connectivity with an additional Ethernet interface is an easy to manage and a compact solution for many projects.

PerforMore: the compact connector system for powerful electric vehicle drivetrains

continuous current of 400A or more with minimal power loss. The rugged devices are suitable for connecting the whole drivetrain, including batteries, inverters, motors and high voltage distribution units. Their low contact resistance is due to the company's proprietary MULTILAM multi-contact system, which also guarantees strong resistance to vibration and elevated temperatures. The PerforMore is exceptionally compact, with a pitch only usually found with significantly lower current ratings, while maintaining the clearances and creepage

distances necessary for high operating voltages. In the mated condition in particular, its low profile gives a clear advantage in the efficient use of available vehicle space. Installation is quick and easy, while disassembly is user friendly and safe, with protection against accidental

SICK Reflex Array Sensors Are on the Leading Edge

and RAY26, to reliably detect even difficult-to-see objects in electronics and surface mount production.

S

The SICK RAY10 and RAY26 Reflex Array Sensors create a wide 2D light band to reliably detect small, flat, clear or irregularly-shaped objects with protrusions or leading edges that are just a few millimetres thick. For example, the multi-tasking sensors can be used to check the correct position of tape feeder trays in an SMT pick and place machine, or to monitor for printed circuit boards protruding from magazine buffers.

Where complex configuration of multiple sensors, or costly light grids, might previously have been needed to obtain reliable results, the compact RAY10 or RAY26 sensors achieve high levels of performance in a fraction of the space and set-up time.

Even when products are randomly positioned on a conveyor, have uneven shapes, are shiny, clear, high-contrast, or varied in height or colour, SICK’s RAY10 and RAY26 sensors deliver consistently reliable detection.

“The RAY10 and RAY26 Reflex Array sensors are a new proposition for integrating even the most challenging detection tasks in electronics and surface mount applications,” explains David Hannaby, SICK’s UK Product Manager for presence detection.

“The sensors also offer all the benefits of smart diagnostics and IO-Link integration, while halving the costs of detection compared to conventional solutions.”

Installation and commissioning of the RAY10 and RAY26 is quick and easy, using SICK’s PinPoint LED technology which makes the light array clearly visible, so the sensors can be accurately aligned. A simple teach-in process completes the set-up. The sensor settings can also be adjusted via IO-Link according to the object size and the conveyor conditions, reducing the need for time-consuming manual intervention during commissioning and operation.

A new rugged class of data processing engines for the digitization of the oil and gas industry

of the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry. Both sectors are characterized by distributed assets and infrastructures in harsh environments and therefore require ultra-robust embedded platforms for the digital transformation challenge that offers a huge potential for cost savings of up to 20 percent. In order to meet the requirements of the upstream and

midstream oil and gas industry, the new embedded edge computing platforms are designed for extended temperature ranges, with optional conformal coating to protect against the effects of salt water or condensation. In addition, they offer comprehensive server class reliability, availability, serviceability features for remote management of thousands of devices. Furthermore they are suitable for completely fanless and therefore maintenance-free 24/7 operation in hermetically sealed housings with the highest IP protection classes, even in 6 core configuration.
