Drives used in applications such as small-scale robotics, handling systems, automated
guided vehicles, and medical and laboratory equipment, must stop reliably in hazardous situations without additional safety modules and without causing lengthy restart times. This is where the FIO Drive Control STO comes in, the company explains. Measuring only 25 × 120 × 90mm, this can be mounted on a DIN rail. In the event of a
safety trigger, the output power is safely cut off within a few milliseconds through two independent channels. EtherCAT communication and logic power remain operational, maintaining position and communication status. After the safety circuit is released, the drive can restart immediately without rebooting or rehoming, reducing restart times after a safety stop and minimisingmachine downtime. The FIO Drive Control STO also includes an
integrated power output that allows direct control of holding magnets, locking mechanisms, or parking brakes, minimising the need for additional electronics. Depending on the application, the drive can function sensorlessly or employ standard encoder interfaces for applications requiring higher positioning accuracy.
Designed for heavy duty vehicles, the motor
features compressed coil technology and improved thermal management, extruded housing design, and fully changeable output shaft options. Its freewheeling capability allows vehicle to coast when necessary, while no risk of demagnetisation ensures its motors can run faster and hotter. At high speeds, there is no risk of cogging, which promotes high drive cycle efficiencies. As well as being inverter-agnostic, the unit is designed to ensure safe failure modes, generating neither back-EMF (electromotive force) nor short-circuit currents.

larger industrial machinery. The AK drive series operates in combination
with AMP’s Q-Programming software for basic to advanced motion and machine control whilst the new Stepper Suite II software covers USB-C setup for online or offline parameter configuration with an integrated oscilloscope providing real-time monitoring, and a smart fault diagnosis feature that includes corrective actions that canminimise commissioning and downtime. Further features of the AK StepSERVO series include a secondary encoder input that can be used with a load located linear encoder to ensure maximum accuracy for gantry- and linear stage-based mechanical systems. According to the company, Commander S V2 provides a
solution for simple applications that require plug-and-play control convenience straight from the box. Typical applications include fans, pumps, compressors, conveyors and mixers. The extended offering provides greater application flexibility
while maintaining the simplicity, reliability and performance that have made Commander S a trusted choice worldwide. This features the Marshal app, powered by NFC technology.
Marshal acts as a drive expert in the field, enabling power on/off set-up in as little as 60 seconds, fast cloning, and real- time diagnostics. With intuitive, step-by-step guidance through the FastStart menu, users can quickly resolve issues and get systems up and running with minimal effort. Commander S V2 offers robust click-on/off DIN rail mounting, compact footprint, and side-by-side installation capabilities. Laser-marked terminals and angled access points simplify wiring and installation. Commander S V2 also features conformal coating to protect against moisture, dust and corrosion, ensuring long-term performance, backed by a free five-year warranty. Built-in features such as intelligent fan control, Modbus RTU, and an integrated C1 EMC filter help reduce system cost while maintaining performance.
machine safety compliance, and the drive includes built-in brake control functionality.
