pelsberg has released a new waterproof junction box that protects wiring and electrical components when water
submerged. The new Abox XT uses a removable resin protection that enables maintenance and inspection, as well as enclosure reuse, after the resin has been inserted. Rated to IP68, the resin protection also
makes the waterproof enclosure significantly less expensive than alternative IP68 enclosures that use pressure-protected lids and seals.
IP68 PROTECTION Water ingress protection is achieved thanks to a special resin filling, inserted into the enclosure during installation. The resin remains semi- pliable, so can be scraped away in the future. This enables the enclosure to remain in place if maintenance is required, or if wiring or components require a check. The enclosure can then be refilled with resin. The resin is inserted into the enclosure after the wiring has been completed at the terminals. With the lid secured, resin is poured into the enclosure via a funnel entry while an opposing exit allows air to escape, establishing a protective seal. The resin covers the terminals without penetrating or damaging them, while achieving an effective seal against water submersion. According to the company, its resin

More accessories are now available for OKW’s STYLE-CASE handheld enclosures. The enclosures are suitable for remote controls (especially in medical/social care settings), and also for many other household, office and industrial electronics applications. This features a high-gloss finish which is pleasant to touch and easy to keep clean. Accessories now include wall holders, sealing kits, battery clips, strain relief and a flexible Ø 5.3mm black grommet to protect cable connections. The wall holders are moulded from UV-stable ASA (UL 94 HB) in traffic white (RAL 9016) and black (RAL 9005) as standard. They are

As an alternative to screws, adhesive foils can be specified to stick the holders in place. These double-sided foils feature a foam carrier. STYLE-CASE’s operating panel is recessed to protect a membrane
keypad. The integrated battery compartment can accommodate two AAA (sizes S, M) or two AA (size L) cells. Size L is also available without a battery compartment. All the enclosures are assembled with tamperproof Torx screws, a key requirement for the healthcare sector. IP 65 ingress protection is optional for sizes M and L. All three sizes of STYLE-CASE – S (123 x 48 x 24mm), M (147 x 56 x 27mm), L (166 x 64 x 31mm) S, come in either white or black.
