Coolair’s Annual Golf Day helps swell the coffers for key workers’ charity

Schneider Electric has partnered with Acorn Integrated Systems Ltd (AIS), the dedicated Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) maintenance and energy solutions company, to supply its EcoStruxure Building Automation and Control solutions.

COOLAIR Equipment Limited have raised more than £2,500 for frontline key workers at their annual ‘Nick Parker’ Golf Day. The event, which took place at Mere Golf Resort & Spa almost two months after originally scheduled, saw tournament winners receive accolades but no prizes. Instead, money usually spent on prizes was donated to The Care Workers’ Charity which provides support and guidance to those working in the care sector and whose dedication has been so vital over these past few challenging months. Coolair’s annual Golf Day has been a firm fixture in the Coolair calendar since 1986 and was due to be one of the highlights of the firm’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

However, the impact of the global pandemic forced the event to be postponed. But thanks to the combined efforts of Coolair and Mere Golf Resort & Spa in making the event Covid-19 safe, 70 Coolair clients and company representatives were able to take to the course for a relaxing, informal round of golf followed by a celebratory barbecue.

Neil Gibbard, Managing Director of Coolair Equipment Limited, said: “I am thrilled we were eventually able to host our annual Nick Parker Golf Day. “While it might not have been the big event we had originally planned, it was a very enjoyable

day and gave Coolair staff the chance to reconnect with the clients who have continued to support us.”

The event, which looked a little different to previous Golf Days due to additional health and safety considerations, saw players enjoy a hot bacon roll before the Shotgun Start at 1pm. Lunch and refreshments were served on the course and a barbecue on the terrace brought proceedings to a close. The event was organised by Coolair’s Paul Evans, a Senior Sales and Design Engineer. He said “We have worked with Mere Golf and Spa for many years now and the whole team who looked after us have excelled themselves.

“Due to changing government guidelines the event had to be pulled together at very short notice and every possible effort was made to ensure that everyone attending was safe and comfortable.” Helen Sharratt, Coolair’s Finance Director, said: “This year more than ever, we wanted our annual Golf Day to be a huge celebration of our fantastic staff and clients.

“To say our 40th year has been the strangest to date would be an understatement. However, we want to try to restore some normality and reconnecting with our clients is paramount.”

Build2Perform, the central learning opportunity for building services professionals, will be hosted entirely online for 2020, CIBSE has just announced. Now in its fourth year, Build2Perform is established as a key resource for anyone involved in designing, regulating or managing the performance of buildings. Traditionally hosted at London’s Olympia, it will surprise no-one that the decision has been made to move to a virtual format.

“Cancelling was simply not an option” declares Rowan Crowley, MD of CIBSE Services. “The event has really become central to the CIBSE’s objective of enhancing and sharing the latest knowledge on key issues of the day.”

Buoyed by the success of the organisation’s recent online Technical Symposium and the hugely popular Grow Your Knowledge webinar series, CIBSE sees advantages in the online format, particularly in increasing the immediate availability of the programme for visitors around the UK and the world.

Keeping to the original dates of 23-26 November, Build2Perform 2020 will focus on priority themes identified by CIBSE’s Knowledge Management Panel. These include: • Net zero carbon • Health, Wellbeing and Safety • Climate Adaptation • Retrofit and refurbishment • Circular economy • Digital engineering • Smart Buildings

Alongside these broad themes there will be discussion on topical issues such as: new policy directions, competency and skills demands and the challenges posed by COVID 19. Ideal Industries makes new connections with the IBA Buying Group Ltd

Ideal Industries has signed a supply agreement with The IBA Buying Group Ltd*, making the company’s entire product catalogue available across the IBA’s national network of 87 independent wholesalers across 120 Branches.

Amongst the products that will now be available from IBA member independents are Ideal Industries’ In-sure Push-In and Lever Connectors, which provide a faster and simpler cable termination method than traditional terminal strips. The agreement makes Ideal Industries a preferred supplier of wire termination connectors for the IBA wholesaler network following a rigorous approval process by IBA Buying Group’s commercial committee, which included a review of product samples. Paul Jenner, chief operating officer at IBA Buying Group explains: “Our members were keen to work with a supply chain partner that offers wire termination connectors because this installation method is popular with contractors.
