As a result of installing our UVC technology next to the cooling coils, it will cleanse the coils continuously and prevent the build-up of any biofilm on the coil surfaces, creating a healthier atmosphere for building occupants by disabling viruses, bacteria and mould spores that pass by the powerful UVC Emitters.

It will also improve the energy efficiency of the

AHUs, as a result of the cleansing action of the UVC on the coil fins and tubes. How UVC Works

There will need to be approx. 2-300mm clearance either in front of, or behind, the cooling coils, although the ideal positioning of the UVC is the Air off side of the coil, over the drain pan

Any filters that are in direct line of sight of UVC light must be made from UV stable material, (i.e. glass media), to avoid deterioration of the filter material, which may then break down and contaminate the coil and plenum.

Technical Overview UVC Solution

The technology we recommend is based upon UVC light at 253.7nm, which destroys the biofilm that will be present on the coil surfaces and upon which mould, bacteria and viruses thrive. This is achieved by the UVC light disrupting the DNA of the micro-organisms which come into direct contact with the light, preventing any reproduction.

By installing the UVC lights in close proximity to the cooling coils of the AHUs, it prevents the micro- organisms from reproducing and clogging the coils of the air conditioning systems and from being blown through the plenums into the occupied space. This purification process helps to improve the indoor air quality, greatly reducing the spread of viruses and bacteria in an enclosed environment, in particular, where air is being recirculated.

Additionally, it will maintain the efficiency of the AHUs by cleansing the coils and keeping them to near their original performance specification, reducing both energy and maintenance costs.
