BSEE Advertorial

Big Foot Systems has designed and supplied a custom soluon to support a large number of AC units and a plant enclosure on a custom plant deck, as part of major works on a flagship London store.

The renovation project at the New Bond Street store included works on a new build behind a retained façade, plus refurbishment of existing buildings to create retail, office and residential areas.

Big Foot was asked to provide a support system for the plant which was to be sited over three large areas, and would contain over 50 pieces of AC equipment and the plant enclosures. The rooftop posed various challenges, as the site identified for the plant was on different levels and the existing structure had an unknown structural loading capacity. Big Foot Systems designed a custom solution that used a combination of its Heavy Duty system, Safe Access and Fix It Feet. Along with safely and evenly supporting this large amount of plant, this created a level platform that was supported on differing level roofs and incorporated support for AC equipment and plant enclosures.

Ashley ten Wolde, UK Project Team Manager, Big Foot Systems, explained: “In addition to working with a tricky rooftop, it all had to be done to a tight timescale with the supports designed, fabricated and assembled on site before a crane was dismantled to allow room for further building. This all took place within a few months, including gaining design approval from contractors, M&E contractors, architects and installers, and the customer is very happy with the end result.”

The custom solution used HD and Safe Access products to create a custom plant deck that would distribute the load and, on top of this, Fix It Feet were used to support the AC equipment and the plant enclosure, which was included for acoustic and aesthetic benefit.

enquiry@bigfootsupport.com New Bosch model simplifies commercial boiler installations

Bosch’s new Condens 7000 F, which is available in four output models ranging from 150kW to 300kW, can be installed without the need for ancillary equipment such as a low loss header and primary pumps. Condens 7000 F offers the ease of installation of an older non-condensing boiler, with the vastly improved performance of a state-of-the-art condensing system. Heating engineers benefit from a lower cost system and reduced installation time, making the boiler perfect for both new and replacement scenarios. The simplified system design has been made possible by major advances in heat exchanger technology. Optimisation of the waterways and flue has led to reduced resistance, while low water content aids heat transfer. As a result, flow temperatures of up to 95°C can be maintained, without the need for additional pumps and a low loss header.

uBosch is simplifying installaon with the new Condens 7000 F commercial boiler.

In addition, the maximum Delta T has been increased to 50°C, with no minimum flow requirements; aiding efficiency and reducing heat losses. With the added benefit of a 6-bar maximum pressure, the 7000 F is well suited to heat networks. The new boiler is one of the first to be manufactured to the new EN15502 standard and has many of the safety features normally associated with higher capacity systems. These include an increased number of pressure switches and gas valve proving on all models. As a result, the 7000 F will help to futureproof for changes to building regulations.

The new unit also has a small footprint, standing at just 0.61sq m (150kW model), and 0.88sq m (300kW) equivalent.

With a lift weight of between 117kg and 178kg and available in both left and right-facing models, the Condens 7000 F can be installed in a cascade to achieve outputs of up to 600kW.

Sports fans can now enjoy up to 20 years of comfort on a new range of heated seats while watching their favourite live stadia events, thanks to cable protecon supplied by Flexicon.

Premier league cable protection for new VVIP Seats

Specialist seating company Bluecube3 has extended its Luxura brand of luxury seating to include a heated option for VVIPs (very very important persons) and corporate suites. The new range is suitable for outdoor or indoor applications and can be individually pedestal mounted or rail mounted in a line using the company’s standard support structure. Says Russel Plant, Managing Director of Bluecube3: “Our Luxura brand has always offered unparalleled quality for premium seating at a sporting event. We have now improved its specification further by providing a heated seat option. Cabling is fed into each row of seating and needs protecting to ensure public safety and continuation of supply over its entire 20-year lifespan.”

Bluecube3 specified Flexicon’s stainless steel corrugated conduit FSS system for external seating and its FSB metallic conduit system for internal seating. Both systems provide excellent tensile or pull off strength and have a high mechanical strength

and abrasion resistance to prevent accidental or deliberate damage to the cabling. The FSS system also provides superior protection against the weather and water ingress, even if it is submerged, with an IP rating of IP68 and has excellent corrosion resistance. Both systems provide EMC screening so that individuals can use the stadium’s Wi-Fi without the risk of electrical interference from the cabling.

Continues Plant: “We have already started fitting the new heated Luxura seating into a new premier league football stadium. The flexible conduit system installation has been straightforward, and we are delighted with the results. With an excellent reputation to maintain, it is vital that we get the specification correct for our new heated Luxura range to ensure years of comfort.”

Specification validation before installation, from Gilberts

Leading independent air movement manufacturer, Gilberts Blackpool, offers state of the art techniques to simulate and test a ventilation design in advance of on site installation. Using computation fluid dynamics (CFD) software, Gilberts can run the proposed ventilation/air movement design to validate its performance according to air changes, air quality, temperature.

uWith computaon fluid dynamics soware, Gilberts can run venlaon/air movement designs to validate performance.

Appropriate adjustments can then be made to the strategy if required, and retested, to ensure the target performance criteria will be met once the ventilation is installed and the building occupied. “The permutations affecting a ventilation strategy are almost infinite, so trying to execute all the necessary calculations and validate a strategy is time consuming, especially as other influencing factors in the building design may be changed along the way,” said Ian Leonard, Gilberts’ R&D Manager.

“Our CFD is a cost-effective method to minimise – or even eliminate – the need for costly prototypes, and can save significant amounts of time and money, reworking a strategy by indicating where any potential weaknesses lie. It also enables consultants and contractors to test different theories and strategies at the design stage, to achieve the best value solution for each project.” The CFD service is just part of Gilberts’ personal service, which includes in-house design and development of bespoke components, remodelling of standard products and testing in its in-house laboratory. Founded over 55 years ago, privately owned Gilberts is unique in air movement in its ability to design and manufacture in-house.
