s maintenance teams seek to inspect more equipment with limited resources and demanding schedules, Fluke has extended its iSee Mobile Imaging Series with the TC03A thermal camera and

ii01 acoustic camera. These practical, compact, plug-in devices bring thermal imaging and compressed-air and gas leak detection to Android devices, while the Fluke iSee app enables image capture, reporting and sharing. In this interview, Justin Sheard discusses how the cameras help technicians identify hidden faults, prioritise further investigation and develop a more proactive approach to maintenance.

Can you give us an overview of the new TC03A thermal camera and ii01 acoustic camera, the maintenance challenges they address, and who they’re designed for?

Justin Sheard: Maintenance teams are being asked to identify issues earlier, reduce wasted energy and keep assets running with greater efficiency. The TC03A and ii01 are designed for that reality: compact imaging tools that connect directly to an Android smartphone or tablet via USB-C and work through the Fluke iSee app. The TC03A is a thermal camera for electrical, mechanical and process inspections. It helps technicians identify hotspots, temperature differences and other potential faults that may not be visible during a conventional inspection. With 384 × 288 thermal imaging, SuperResolution up to 768 × 576, manual focus, temperature analysis tools and configurable alerts, it gives teams a practical

As maintenance teams face growing pressure to keep assets running with fewer technicians and tighter maintenance schedules, they need inspection tools that are faster, easier to use, and seamlessly connected to modern mobile workflows. Addressing this need, Fluke recently announced the expansion of its Fluke iSee Mobile Imaging Series with two new professional imaging solutions: the TC03A Thermal Camera

and ii01 Acoustic Camera for Android devices. Instrumentation Monthly caught up with Justin Sheard, senior application specialist, Industrial Imaging at Fluke Corporation, to find out more...

way to capture clearer evidence and prioritise follow-up work.

The ii01 is a mobile acoustic camera for fast sound- source localisation and spot checks. It helps technicians locate compressed-air and gas leaks, assess airtightness and identify potential sources of wasted energy. Its SoundMap technology overlays the detected sound on the live image, making it easier to pinpoint the apparent source and document the finding.

Both products are designed for technicians and maintenance teams working in industrial environments. Together, they make thermal and acoustic imaging more accessible, helping teams identify issues earlier, document evidence at the

point of inspection and share findings through a connected mobile workflow.

What has made it possible to bring these imaging capabilities to a smartphone attachment, and why is now the right time for this approach?

Justin Sheard: Advances in sensor miniaturisation, signal processing and mobile-device performance have made it possible to deliver thermal and acoustic imaging in compact USB-C attachments. The attachment provides the specialist sensing capability, while the smartphone supplies the display, interface, storage and connectivity. That reduces the size and complexity of the tool while preserving the analysis, documentation and sharing capabilities technicians need in the field. The real change is not only that sensors are smaller; it is that inspection is becoming part of a connected maintenance workflow. Teams need tools that help them move from observation to evidence to action without creating extra steps. Smartphone-based imaging supports that shift by combining inspection, documentation and sharing in a device technicians already use.

Can you walk us through a typical inspection with each camera, from spotting an issue to deciding what action to take?

Justin Sheard: With the TC03A, the inspection begins the moment the technician connects the camera to an Android device and opens the Fluke iSee app. As they scan the equipment, manual focus allows them to move smoothly between close-up inspections and views from a greater distance.
