HIGH-PERFORMANCE MULTI-PRODUCT CALIBRATORS

Instrumentation Monthly recently caught up with Wim Sibon, technical sales manager at Fluke Calibration, to find out more about the company’s latest products – the 5560A, 5550A and 5540A...

I

deal for 6.5-digit resolution DMMs, Fluke Calibration’s 5560A is complemented by the new 5550A (5.5-digit) performance multi- product calibrator and the 5540A (4.5-digit) multi-product calibrator, enabling laboratories to increase accuracy while reducing costs and increasing bench space. Wim Sibon, Fluke Calibration technical sales manager for Electrical Calibration in Europe explains: “This is a completely new series of calibrators that will replace our current product offering in the multi- product calibrator range. The first product, the 5560A, provides better coverage and higher accuracy than that offered on our previous product ranges. And obviously there are lots of new features and benefits on the new series...”

A NEW CLASS OF MULTI-PRODUCT CALIBRATOR

The Fluke 5560A High-Performance Multi-Product Calibrator provides the broadest electrical workload coverage and highest accuracy.

Satisfying demand at the high-end of the multi-product calibrator market, the 5560A sits neatly in Fluke’s product range under the high- accuracy, multi-function 5730A calibrator designed for calibrating 8.5-digit resolution DMMs. The 5560A is an ideal solution for calibrating up to 6.5-digit DMMs. With demand for calibration growing every

year, the Fluke 5560A defines a new class of multi-product calibrator by catering for new and inexperienced workers joining the calibration business without much training. Sibon explains: “All of the models in this new range require minimum training. The user interface is so easy to use that you only need a little experience in calibration to operate the units. It takes only a couple of minutes to get used to the interface. The training requirements are minimal. “Our customers have asked for this. The experience level and skill level in calibration labs is decreasing so training is a hot topic. When you have minimal training requirements on

calibrators, it makes it easier to use the unit.” Key features of the Fluke 5560A include a large 7-inch display with intuitive touchscreen for ease of use, Visual Connection Management terminals and an optional accessory for efficient digital multimeter (DMM) calibration with minimal or no lead changes. Sibon says: “We have redesigned the output connection block which makes it more compatible with the workload you are calibrating and means less lead changes which, especially for automation, can be very beneficial.” The rugged and portable calibrator can also be automated using MET/CAL Calibration Management Software. Another key benefit to users of the 5560A is reduced maintenance. Sibon explains: “We had some requirements for specifications on a two- year calibration cycle. The product has been specified for a 90-day, one-year and two-year calibration cycle so the customer can decide which calibration cycle they would like to use.” The 5560A is also protected against expensive damage caused by incoming voltages or overload conditions. In addition, the 5560A offers the ability to calibrate a wider range of equipment using a single calibrator. These all contribute to significant reductions in cost of ownership for calibration laboratories. In its quest to offer calibration laboratories the next generation of advanced tools, Fluke Calibration has also launched the 5550A
