ESAB UPGRADES COLUMBUS® III SOFTWARE AND ESAB CUTCLOUD FOR MECHANISED CUTTING

VESA OR UNIVERSAL MOUNT FOR CONNECTING MONITORS, DISPLAYS OR CONTROL PANELS

M

onitors, touch screens, displays and control panels are used every day. Industrial machines and systems are programmed or performance data displayed on modern

touch screens or control panels. On conveyors, monitors make it possible to monitor and visualise all sorts of processes. Today, control panels or flat screens are often an essential component of modern assembly workstations. The RK monitor mounting is designed for monitors, control panels and touch screens up to 25 kg and offers many degrees of freedom. The screen can be turned, tilted and swivelled and – if fixed to a round or square tube system – also height-adjusted. No tools required! All degrees of freedom can be adjusted separately via lever/handwheel bolts. With tilt-adjustment in 15° increments and vibration-proof locking.

PRESSURE SENSOR WITH IO-LINK FOR INTELLIGENT MACHINES

W

IKA has a new, flexible pressure sensor with IO-Link in its portfolio.

The model A-1200 is used for pressure monitoring or as a PNP/NPN switch, especially in intelligent machines. The new pressure sensor can be

integrated into series production without any great effort. It is easy to configure and can be supplied with preset parameters on request. The IO-Link interface continuously transmits all measured values and information from the integrated diagnostic function, which monitors the measurement quality of the A-1200. In addition, a 360° LED display (green, yellow, red) gives visual information about the instrument status. The pressure sensor also offers a blinking function that can be controlled via IO-Link, which enables its location to be clearly identified during maintenance. The A-1200 is available in a variety of versions, including an exceptionally robust one

for measurement applications in harsh environments. This variant of the sensor is shock-resistant up to a load of 1,000 g and designed for medium temperatures from -40 °C … +125 °C.

SAB CutCloud utilizes Microsoft Azure, Columbus now includes cost calculators based on actual production data. ESAB Welding & Cutting Products demonstrated its new

Columbus® III version 1.6 CAD/CAM software for mechanised cutting at EuroBLECH, which took place in Hannover, German in October. The new ESAB CutCloud 3.0 version utilises Microsoft Azure IoT and the ThingWorx® Industrial Innovation Platform from PTC, which respectively allow for on-premise, hybrid and cloud based architectures and functionality to import and visualize machine data. Columbus III version 1.6 now includes the ability to calculate offers and orders for customers based on actual production data. An easy-to-use cost calculator enables fabricators to enter cost variables, such as costs for machine time per hour, cutting process (including associated consumables), preparation, programming and materials.

NEW BENCHMARK IN THERMAL FLOW MEASUREMENT

T

he new benchmark in thermal flow measurement is the SA from ifm electronic. Quite simply the best

and easiest to use, the SA is optimised for a range of media including water, oils, glycol and air. Not only will the SA measure the flow rate, but the device will also measure the temperature of the medium. The SA series are equipped with the latest sensing and connection technologies for optimum setting and usage, as well as featuring a very flexible design concept to reduce inventory. The SA features a highly visible

four-digit display, which the user can configure to show the flow rate or temperature and to alternate from red to green as required, and the housing can be aligned for optimum readability. Unlike most flowmeters, using an SA does not mean specifying exactly the pipe

diameter to find the correct device. IFM

CLIENT SOLUTION LEADS TO GAS METER TEST RIG FOR EVERYONE W

hen a client approached Chell Instruments with a specific challenge, our engineering team got straight to work. Using our industry leading expertise and experience, the ideal solution was

developed for their gas meter calibration requirements. Now, a version of the Gas Meter Test Rig (GMTR) we created is available from Chell for everyone

wishing to test and calibrate domestic gas meters, including manufacturers and calibration houses. The GMTR is a multi-channel bench-top system that allows testing of the functionality, accuracy,

stability and leak integrity of up to four domestic gas meters simultaneously. It is compatible with older ‘diaphragm’ type positive displacement meters, as well as the newer ‘smart’ ultrasonic meters. As you’d expect, the device contains high accuracy flow, pressure and temperature

instrumentation and can generate any flow set-point up to 12,000 litres per hour, maintaining a low outlet pressure to prevent damage to the gas meters under test. For valid accuracy comparisons, the combined mass flow, pressure and temperature measurements can be used to calculate the true volumetric flow rate at each point of concern. The system consists of a custom enclosure and a triple range flow manifold with pneumatically

operated isolation valves. Featuring a captive vent, it can also be used for testing on flammable gases. Pipework and custom gas meter outlet blocks allow volumetric flow conversion for up to 4 gas meters in series. The system has a 0.4%Rdg +0.2%FS mass flow accuracy. It utilises 4 pressure transducers and 4

PRT temperature probes, connected to custom fixtures in the interconnecting pipework. The on- board display modules provide mass flow control and display, pressure and temperature measurement display and valve control. Remote monitoring and control is also possible via the built-in webserver or via customer’s own software.
