ADVERTORIAL TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION

Impact Handling acquires Bendigo Mitchell taking UK branches to 12

The move allows Impact Handling to strengthen its UK operation, particularly in the Midlands. T Curtiss-Wright extends Paddle Joystick Family

extends the company’s recently-introduced JC1200 family by incorporating latching and overpress functionalities and offering multiple mounting solutions in a single body. This makes the new joystick controller ideal for use in control panels and armrest assemblies found in material handling vehicles, industrial trucks, agricultural equipment and construction machinery, where cost-effective, long-life operator controls are essential. Developed by Curtiss-Wright’s brand family of Penny &

C

Giles, the JC1210 paddle joystick features an additional 10 degrees of travel at both ends of the axis, which can be specified by machine designers and end users for either latching or overpress functions – or a combination of both – to meet system requirements to hold functions at full speed/float. By using a long-life bearing system and non- contacting Hall-effect sensing technology, the JC1210 has already been rated to 5 million cycles (to start of overpress/latching) while providing functionality that is smooth and easy to operate.

urtiss-Wright Industrial division has announced the launch of the JC1210, a single-axis paddle joystick that

he acquisition brings the total number of wholly owned Impact branches across the UK to twelve,

further supported by its seven dedicated dealer sites and a workforce of over 200 mobile technicians.

Bendigo Mitchell will now offer the full Impact

premium brand product portfolio, led by the acclaimed Cat Lift Trucks range of material handling and warehouse equipment.

“The coming together of the businesses will result

in a wider range of product choice, enhanced service support and greater value for Bendigo Mitchell’s customers as well as for other lift truck users across the midlands”, said outgoing Bendigo Mitchell managing director Duncan Nealon. He went on to say: “The two businesses really do represent the perfect fit, with a shared belief in the value of truly personal service, delivered at a local level, and of the importance of ensuring customers have the right machines for their specific applications – so the synergies were obvious”.

Impact is the sole UK and Ireland distributor for Cat

Lift Trucks and maintains over 10,000 customer machines across the UK. Impact also exclusively distributes Konecranes lift trucks, Carer heavy duty electric fork Lifts, Rocla automated guided vehicles and Spijkstaal electric vehicles in the UK, as well as being an official dealer for a range of specialist equipment brands.

Terry Kendrew (pictured), managing director of Impact Handling said: “We are excited to welcome Bendigo

Mitchell into the Impact family and look forward to building on their excellence in customer service, now with the full backing of our nationwide support network, extensive product inventory and OEM parts supply. “Strategically for Impact this consolidates our capability in the Midlands region and means we are now better placed than ever to support the needs of lift truck users in the area, no matter how large or small their fleet.”

Translyft Turbo lifts - NEW high performance lifts for heavy-duty, intensive and specialist environments

bespoke and standard lifting solutions for all commercial environments. We specify, design, install, service and maintain bespoke lift solutions to companies such as Jaguar Land-Rover, BMW, Aldi, and food, pharma and ATEX operators in specialist environments.

T In a world that runs 24/7/365 there is an increasing

demand for lifts that can meet the challenges of highly automated cycles and intensive supply chains in manufacturing , distribution and logistics environments.

In response to this growing Translyft has introduced

‘Turbo’ -premium specification lifts manufactured with high grade materials that are capable of withstanding the demands of heavy-duty environments, including high intensity integrated systems that are emerging as a result of the increasing use of robotics and automated warehouse pallet storage and retrieval.

Our standard Turbo lift mechanisms are capable of 10

lift cycles per hour for 16 hours versus our standard 8 lift cycles per hour for 8 hour shifts. However, our bespoke service can specify and supply these lift mechanisms to support continuous usage – with additional features such as continuous running motors and automated hydraulic control switching. Maintenance couldn’t be easier either, with a single central automatic greasing point on every lift.

Wherever and whatever, these premium lifts are built for endurance and high performance. Other industries

might refer to them as ‘Extreme Lifts’. Manufactured in our factory in Denmark , the build quality, durability and guaranteed high performance of these

premium lifts will become the benchmark in intensive, mechanised workplace environments. Lifting Technology Ltd

How choosing the right regulator reduces the risks

associated with Gas Cylinders I

ndustrial gases are widely used for cutting and welding, and the

hazards associated with heat, flames and flammable gases are generally understood. However, less well appreciated are the consequences of a gas cylinder being knocked over, perhaps because somebody trips over a hose, a forklift truck knocks a cylinder or something falls against or onto a cylinder. In the worst- case scenario, the cylinder falls and, as it strikes the ground or another object, the regulator breaks away from the cylinder. If this happens, the cylinder becomes extremely dangerous. Because of the stored energy in the compressed gas, the escaping gas can give the cylinder enough energy to punch clean through a brick wall or steel partition; anyone in the vicinity is at grave risk of being injured or killed. Although this sounds far-fetched, there are documented incidents of this type, so the hazard is real. Any risk assessment should identify the hazard of a gas cylinder falling and the potential consequences as severe.
