AxFlow UK to distribute APV components
A
xFlow UK Limited has announced its appointment by SPX Flow Inc., (NYSE: FLOW) as its primary distribution
partner for APV brand process components and parts in the UK food and beverage market. The agreement includes APV pumps, valves,
homogenisers, mixers and sanitary heat exchangers. This is a major step forward for both companies and follows the long term successful partnership between SPX Flow and AxFlow representing the Waukesha Cherry-Burrell (WCB) brand in the UK. Announcing the agreement, AxFlow Limited Managing
Director Tony Peters said: “Our reputation as a successful distributor with great customer service, strong technical knowhow, extensive stockholding capacities at our European Distribution Centre and comprehensive after market support service capabilities in the UK makes distributing SPX FLOW’s APV brand components a natural fit.” Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, SPX FLOW have recognised the success that AxFlow has achieved with the WCB brand and see them well placed to partner and replicate this success with the APV brand.

high accuracy at very low flow rates; delivering a smooth virtually pulse-less flow for a very homogeneous injection of liquids at process pressures from 0 to 245 bar.
N It features a multiple diaphragm design to
provide virtually pulse-free flow without the need for pulsation dampeners. The new Hydra-Cell MT8 pump exceeds API 675 performance standards for steady state accuracy (±1%), linearity (±3%) and repeatability (±3%) the company states.
Flow capacity for the MT8 ranges from a
minimum of 00.227 lph to a maximum of 30.28 lph with discharge pressure ratings up to 241 bar (3500 psi) depending on flow. At the heart of the MT8's accuracy and repeatability is the patented system for the management of the hydraulic actuating oil. This system of valves ensures that on every forward stroke the volume of actuating oil is extremely consistent, very important when having to deliver very low flow rates.
The system also protects the diaphragms from a closed inlet whilst the pump is running. The pump can also run
dry with out liquid indefinitely! Accuracy and linearity across the full flow rate range is achieved by having a constant compression ratio in the
process side of the diaphragm, enabling turn down ratios of greater than 130:1 to be achieved with the same pump. Chemical processing applications include oil and gas (onshore and offshore), water and wastewater treatment,
chemical injection, polyurethane foam, and other uses including pharmaceutical, power generation, personal care products, and additive injection in plastics processing.

ith a world that has more gadgets than people, it is not surprising that electronics has progressively become an essential everyday
part of modern life. With such a high demand from both the consumer and industrial markets, the expectation is strong when it comes to reliability and quality. Inside many gadgets you will find a PCB (printed circuit board.) PCB manufacturers worldwide strive continuously to improve quality control in order to minimise product failure. For many
PCB manufacturers, the reflow soldering process is the most popular manufacturing method, as it allows mass production of PCB’s with intricate surface mount component soldering of the highest quality. The reflow soldering process uses a solder paste to attach multiple electrical components temporarily to their contact on the circuit board; after assembly it is then subjected to controlled heat within the solder reflow oven, melting the solder and permanently connecting the joint between the component and the circuit board. Nitrogen is introduced into the solder reflow oven to enhance the quality of the soldering, as it creates an inert atmosphere reducing the risk of oxidisation as well as improving the wetting angles of the soldered joints. The inert atmosphere within the oven is maintained using a gas analyser capable of measuring ppm (parts per million) of the oxygen content.

Introducing SICK’s SureSense – the Flexible Family of Customisable Sensors S
ICK has developed the SureSense family of user- customisable photo-electric sensors - a concept that
enables machine builders and plant engineers to specify from a wide-range of sensing options all within a standard technology, set-up, mounting and housing. The durable SureSense sensors can reliably detect
nearly any object in any environment – ensuring machines and lines stay up and running at full capacity. David Hannaby, SICK’s UK product manager for presence
detection, explains why SICK developed the technology. “We are seeing more companies looking to use a hybrid sensor that allows flexibility in mounting either from the side or from the front. During installation and operation, SureSense’s signal strength bar gives clear indication of the sensor’s performance and making set up and operation easier for engineers.

with rugged remote sensor head
head that tolerates ambient temperatures up to 315 °C. This design is ideal for applications with tight space constraints and for mounting near a heat source and in harsh environments. The sensing heads also offer improved immunity to electromagnetic interference. They are connected to a rugged IP65 electronics box via fiber-optic cable over a distance of up to 22 m. Various medium and high-temperature models cover a

250 °C to 3,200 °C measurement range. Monochrome and ratio pyrometer version are available with a 1 µm or 1.6 µm spectral response. The ratio infrared thermometers enable accurate
measurements of partially obscured objects, in dirty or steam-filled atmospheres, and of small or moving objects that do not completely take up the measurement spot, notably wires, rods, or streams of molten glass or metal. Major application fields include primary and secondary metals manufacturing, primary glass manufacturing, and laser welding.
