Exciting times as phased opening of new stand begins

T e new LCS Stand at Sixfi elds has begun a phased opening process. T e club is required to stage a gradual opening of the new

facilities, and this process began at the Birmingham City game in March when general admission seats (available via ntfcdirect. co.uk), fi rst fl oor lounge and boardroom and second fl oor executive boxes were open for the fi rst time. Over the coming weeks, other parts of the new stand will open

including the new raised wheelchair viewing area and the concourse and the club will communicate those dates in due course. Supporters and guests enjoyed watching the Cobblers draw 1-1

with the high-fl ying Blues from the club’s fi rst ever pitch-facing hospitality areas in its 128-year history as the game attracted Northampton Town’s biggest ever crowd at Sixfi elds and the biggest home league crowd since April 1987. “We were delighted we are able to welcome guests into some parts of the new LCS Stand for the fi rst time,” said Chairman Kelvin T omas. “T is is the fi rst step of the phased opening we are required to have. “We look forward to using other parts of the stand in the coming

weeks as we build up towards an offi cial ceremonial cutting of the ribbon when all areas are open. “A huge amount of work has gone in to making sure we are able

to open, and I would like to pay a big tribute to GRS for all of their fantastic work in the construction of the stand, LCS for their support and James Whiting, Avril Spraggon and all of the staff involved for their hard work and commitment in to helping us get to this point.

“We were really excited to see supporters in the new LCS

Stand and, as well as the matches, we plan on staging a number of other events to give everyone the chance to see the new facilities for themselves.” Manager Kevin Nolan agreed: “It was great to see fans in the new

stand and that is a tribute to all the hard work from Kelvin T omas, the directors, the staff and everyone at the club. It shows the club is moving forward. We are all in this together and we want the fans to keep coming.” LCS Managing Director Mark Lawrence said: “T e whole day from

start to fi nish was perfect. “After all the years of waiting for the East stand to be completed

we can certainly say now that it was well worth the wait and we are proud to have our family business associated with such an amazing new facility.”
