TAFARI; A FUSION BETWEEN MUSIC AND FASHION
Hugel´s interest in the fashion world came naturally as a collaboration with the designer Tafari just spoke to him on a different level
“Tafari (the designer) started to fit me for my big American shows 2 years ago. The guy never missed. I was always amazed by the fits he was designing for me. Over time we became good friends. We are very similar in a lot of ways.
Probably met in a different life before. So after 1 and a half years, I said bro I think we should become partners and take the brand to another level. And here we are”.
Hugel´s experience in the music industry
influences his approach to fashion, and so it feels like those two worlds collide into something amazing
“Well, I’m coming from hip hop. I was at first a hip-hop producer. The hip-hop culture influenced me a lot growing up. I always wanted to have my fashion brand one day. Something cool with attitude. When you look at how people dress in electronic music it’s not that cool. Nothing com- pares to rappers and so on. We never heard about a DJ fashion brand that is COOL, right?, He laughs
“I wanted to be the first one to create a top fashion luxury streetwear brand. TAFARI means “he who inspires creativity”. The brand is very spiritual. The colors, the tie-dye, and the design reflect a lot of the energy in my music. The tribal drums, the afro / Latin sound. The jungle etc…”
I only do things with passion. I believe that what is good is good. The pieces we create are unique and don’t look like anything else out there. So it will for sure meet his niche of clients. We want to open our first store in NEW YORK in the next 3 years.
