Lumbee Tribal Chairman John Lowery, Tribal Speaker Ricky Burnette and Councilman Homer Fields unveil newly planned Bear Creek Subdivision
Lumbee Tribal Council members and the tribal staff to unveil two new planned communities in November. The first unveiling took place in the northern part of Robeson County. Chairman John Lowery joined former Tribal Speaker Ricky Burnett and Councilman Homer Fields to unveil and announce the newly planned Bear Creek Subdivision. The District 13 neighborhood, in the Parkton Community is proposed to have 12-15 homes, which will be available for homeownership. The site is near three counties and Interstate 95. The neighborhood will be the second housing development in Lumbee Tribal District 13. The first was Stedman Estates. Former Tribal Council Speaker Ricky Burnette said the neighborhood is long awaited for this district and he thanked God for allowing the vision to come forward.

The second new tribal community will be in Lumberton. Chairman Lowery joined Tribal Council members Pam Hunt, Harold Smith, Homer Fields and the tribal Staff to unveil and announce a future subdivision in the Lumberton community. The District 3 site, on NC Highway 41 North in Lumberton sits on more than 30 acres. The unveiling was very emotional for some of the council members because of how this housing may change the lives for tribal members with new homes in the district.
Parking Spaces Honor Lumbee Veterans
Lumbee Veterans have two new parking spaces at the Lumbee Tribe Housing Complex. The spaces were unveiled in November by the Lumbee Tribal Administration. Tribal Chairman John Lowery also announced plans for a new veterans monument, which is underway and should be completed by Spring 2023. The new spaces are located on the right side of the building.
