A woman suffered severe burns to herhandsandface afteraferocioushousefire in Read, the cause of which is being treated as suspicious by police. _
A team of around 18 firefight­ ers tackled the blaze at the property in Whalley Road on Sunday night after, rescuing a woman from a bedroom. L o c a l re s id en ts and neighbours say the 44-year-
old was “lucky to get out of the fire alive”.
. ; After hearing her screams
and cries for help they dialled 999 before attempting to kick in a door. In a dramatic rescue,
firefighters used ladders and water jets to reach the woman who was trapped u p s ta ir s after the blaze blocked her escape route.
She was
taken.to the Roy- ,
