ifsted’s ‘Good’ rating or church school

Dfsted inspectors have found hitheroe’s St James’ CE Pri- aary School “good” in all four udgement areas. The G re en a c re S tre e t

Ichool was visited at the end bf the summer term during, bne of the hottest and busiest veeksoftheyear. However, despite all the distractions the pupils and

gtaff responded to the visit vith enthusiasm. Staff at the school are es

pecially pleased that Ofsted acknowledged all areas of per

formance including the fact that “behaviour is good” and that “the pupils have positive attitudes and mature behav iour reflecting th e school’s strongly held values and be liefs as a church school”. Head teacher Mrs Pattison

expressed her thanks to par ents for their support espe cially as she had only been in the post 18 months when the Ofsted team arrived. In fact, the Ofsted inspec

tor noted: “Parents are highly positive about all aspects of

the school’s work.” A team effort, the inspec-

toradded: “The teachers make learning enjoyable and pupils talk with enthusiasm about their work.” The Governing Body was

also recognised as a strength of the school with a “highly experienced Governing Body bringing expertise to a school they know well”. Any prospective parents/

carers wanting to visit the school should call its office on 01200 423599.
