Thousands of people attended this year’s classic car show

set in the wonderful grounds of CJitheroe Castle.

The North West Sound Ar chive, based at the Castle, gave people a chance to see more than 40 classic cars on display over the Bank Holiday week end in the area at the foot of the Castle Keep. Some of the vintage vehi- .

cles on show included Austin 7S,

Lotus Elans, Rolls-Royces, a

Corvette C3 Stingray, a Damler 66 Coup, a Morris Minor Trav eller and many more. Besides the cars them

selves, there were displays in the Pendie Hill Room of long- forgotten North West car manufacturers, including the Little Midland Company which produced cycle cars from 1909 to 1919 at its Mid land Works in Castle Street, Clitheroe. There were also short films showingthroughoutthedayof

the regional car industry, in cluding theworkofBond Cars. Sound archive officer An

drew Schofield hailed the day a huge success..

He commented: “We had

good weather which helped to attract thousands of clas sic car enthusiasts. In fact, we had record number of people this year.

“The event is in its third

year and was extremely suc cessful. We hope to host an- • other show next year.” .
