A man was forced to flee his home in the middle of the night and was left needing hospital treatmentafterfire ripped through his caravan, killing two animals.

Flames engulfed the static caravan at Stubbins Vale Caravan Park, in Stub- bins Lane, Sabden, at 3am on Sunday. Mr Chris Williams (50) who lived

in the property managed to get out, but his pet boxer dog, called “Henry”, and a hamster, who he was believed to be looking after for a friend, per- ished.Athird animal, acat,is thought to have escaped the fire but has not been seen since. Firefighters said Mr Williams was

taken to the Royal Blackburn Hos pital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation. Police and fire crews evacuated

the caravan site while staff at the nearby White Hart pub opened their doors to give residents some where warm to wait and provided them with tea and coffee until they returned to their homes around two hours later at 5am. Zoe Mitchell (19), who was looking

could smell burning,” said Zoe. “I looked out the window andcouldsee some flashing lights but nothing else. “We heard more sirens so we went

outside and just saw all these flames coming from the caravan. “We went up to see if everybody

was OK. They were evacuating every one and the police asked if we could

open the pub. The pub was full, there were old ladies wearing just their dressing gowns so it’s a good job we were there. We stayed open until about 5 am. They evacuated the site because there were a lot of gas can isters which could have exploded.” ZoesaidMr Williams,whoisstay-

based on noughts-and-crosses and with nine celebrities in the squares answering questions - has been revived by ITV with comedy actor Warwick Davis as question master and comedi- ansTim Vine and Joe Wilkinson as regular panellists. Guest celebrities on the
