was a cracker, as he pulled off some fantastic overtaking manoeuvres to take a well de served third place finish, and . second place overall - a big boost ahead ofhis next outing on Sunday at his local track Brogden Hall Farm down the road in Barnoldswick.

Whalley’s Adam Morgan was back in action as the British touring car cham pionship heads towards a dramatic conclusion.

Round eight was held at Rockingham Speedway in Northamptonshire, as Mor gan looked to continue his run of form. He qualified in sixth

place, just 0.7 of a second off pole position, and settled for fifth place in race one, and another, valuable haul

ofpoints. • However, in race two, a

small stone went through the radiator ofhis Mercedes, causing the engine to over heat and fail, leaving Morgan no choice but to retire. Morgan was able to start

race three, but pulled back into the pits at the end of the secondlapwithmore engine trouble. Morgan now sits 11th in the championshiop, which continues at the end of the month with the penul timate round at Silverstone.

Testing weekend for race ace Adam

-ton was man of the match, making a series of saves, in cluding a penalty five min utes from time. The locals then earned a

hard-fought 2-1 win at Cop- pull United to progress to the

secondroundoftheLFACup on Sunday morning. Oliver Shipston gave

Green a deserved lead after 15 minutes when he calmly stroked a loose ball home from 12 yards. •With 10 minutes re

maining, a soft penalty was awarded by the referee, which was smashed home to level the score. In injury time, with pen

alties looming, Shipston whipped in an inswinging corner from the left, and Tom Jacques rose at the near post to bullet a header into the roof of the net. Sunday sees Green’s first

league match at home to Bolton Boys and Girls Club, kick-off 11a.m.
