Paying lip service

It is a skill many of our grans possessed from working in the mills with their deafening looms - and it is one that you now have the opportunity to learn in Clitheroe for free and which could make a big difference to someone’s life; What is it? Lip reading. It can be difficult for people hard of hearing to be part of conversations, especiaUy when there’s lots of background noise such as in shops, pubs and restaurants or even just walking down a busy street. Lip reading is away of breaking through that communica- tion barrier. Ifyouarehardofhearingyourselforknowsomeonewho is, why not enrol for the course, which starts at 2 pm on Tuesday and runs for 26 weeks in the meeting room at Clitheroe Library. There’s no charge other than a few pence for a cuppa during break time. For details, email course tutor Carol Riley at cariley@ talk21.com
