Councillor Jim Shervey, to gether with his wife Jen and family, were among the many visitors. Entry to the show, was free, but the cost was off

set by the sale of raffle tickets and refreshments, with the delicious home-made cakes proving as popular as ever. As usual the show was

held at St James’ Primary School in Greenacre Street, Clitheroe, and this year the trophies were presented by the new headteacher there, Mrs Fiona Pattison. ■ Among the 30 cups and

trophies awarded was the prestigious Banksian medal, given this year to Jane Gar ner, who gained the most points in the horticultural - sections of the show. This award from the Royal Hor ticultural Society (RHS) is named after the botanist and plant hunter Sir Joseph Banks. The President’s Award, in

recognition of Services to the Club, was awarded to Marion Fisher - the unsung heroine of the West View Allotments Sales Hut. Proceeds from the auction of produce at the end of show raised funds for the school.

manager for East Lancashire, said: “We’ll be asking drivers to give us a couple of minutes of their time to tell us about their journey, which is vital for us to understand more about travel patterns and de velop solutions to congestion problems. “The information we have

at the moment allows us to progress smaller schemes in the short term, but we real ly need to develop a broader knowledge of people’s travel habits to understand the best approach to take in the long term. “We sorry for any incon
