Tasker misses out on final in Hungary

With 89 men competing, qualification for the final in Kecskemet was a tough challenge, and Tasker, as well as Great Britain team mate Tom Toolis, missed the cut. Athletes had to secure
a top-eight finish in each of the three qualification groups to be sure of pro gressing to Sunday’s final, or be one of the next top-12 points scorers across the three groups. Twenty-year-old Luke

Clitheroe golfer Sophie - Lamb made history at the weekend when retaining the prestigious Fairhaven Trophy alongside boys’vic tor Marco Penge.
For the first time ever both trophies were defended by the reigning champions, with the 16-year-old England starlet do ing it with a record-breaking score of nine under par 291.

phie responded with a four- under par, bogey-free third round of 71 to creep ahead with 18 holes remaining. The talented teenager, a
memberofClitheroeGolfClub, then saved the best for last, closing with a five-under 70, which included seven birdies, to blow the competition out of the water and win by six shots. ■ Following impressive per

formances in the French U21 Championships and the Scot tish Womens Championships - which has seen Sophie climb to 320 in the world rankings - her proud dad, Phil, said: “Iwasin- crediblyproudofhowsheper- formed especially as she had the additional pressure of be ing the defending champion in such a big event. “It was especially pleasing

comprising Sophie, Jake Sto rey and Matty Lamb, finished third on 294.
Following victory Sophie,
who finished third overall in the mixed field, told England Golf: “It
wasgood.Iloved it. Last year when Marco andl won we said that if we both came back and played we’dhave to win it again-andwedid!”
