Volunteers’ sporting chance
Young people are being given the chance to become a sports volunteer and earn a qualifi cation.
A weekly course will run on
Mondays from 6-30 to 8-30 pm for 12 weeks, May 12th to Au gust 4th, at The Zone, Parson Lane, Clitheroe. Spring Into Action, a com-
munity interest company which provides activities for people with learning disabili ties and/or specialist needs,
runs the Spring Into Sports Volunteering level 1 course, which is open to all 13 to 25 year olds with or without dis abilities. A spokesman said: “You
don’t need to have sporting aptitude to do this course; it
is your volunteering skills, no t your sporting ability, that will be assessed.” Participants will learn
about volunteering roles and responsibilities, develop vol-
unteering skills and help to organise a sports event or competition. Qualification will enable
holders to help with running small events, festivals, fund raisers ortovolunteeratlocal clubs under adult supervi sion. The cost of the course is £2 a week. Details from Rachael McHugh, 07525 425566, email

a treasure hunt St Helen’s Church is hold ing a village treasure hunt around Waddington on Fri day, May 23rd, at 6-30 pm.
