, Super heroes', caped crusad ers, villainous baddies and plenty of onesies could be seen when Ribblesdale High School set about fund-raising for thisyear’s Children in Need appeal. At break time pupils were . treated to chips in a cup and
" several cake sales. And when all the money
was added up the school had raised a staggering £1 ,100 through a thoroughly enjoy able day. Mr Thomas and Miss
Fletcher were voted best- dressed members of staff as The Joker and Dangermouse. Domnic Heys of Year 9 won best-dressed pupil as Mr Incredible.

Oakhill College at Whalley
entered the Ribble Valley and Hyndburn mini basket ball tournament. Six pupils - Sam Chat-
burn, Joshua Wilkinson, William B a r ra s s , Toby Knight, Bradley Barnes and Alex Lutwyche - were in volved in the event. During the group stages
pupils beat St Charles, Rish- ton, 5-4 and St Nicholas, Accrington, 5-2, but unfortu nately lost to a highly skilled
Grindleton team 7-3. Oakhill went through to the runners- upplayoffandbeatBenjamin Hargreaves 7-2 earning their place as the highest scor ing runners-up out of the 14 schools involved. Special mention must go to Sam Chatburn who made a mas sive impact on each and eve ry game with his accuracy in shooting and relentless de fence and offence skills. He was voted the team’s and “my player of the tournament".
Classroom tea and cake for grown-ups
A visit to their children’s pri mary school class room end ed with tea and cake for some luckygrown-ups. The Foundation Stage
Children in Oak and Acorn Classes at St James’ CE Pri mary School held a tea party and invited their grown-ups, to join them in their class rooms. The children worked in
