— • Kevan and Lisa Lingard . - : attended to outline their' . proposals for Sabden Live on; Saturday and Sunday, May 24th and 25th.
: As the music festival has ;
become more successful, - •- • a larger events licence was needed from Ribble Valley . Borough Council. This had been applied for and, as meas ures were needed to “police” - it, an event safety manage ment plan had been drawn up for approval by the borough council. It is proposed to cordon off the field with entry/ exit points - the main entry be ing near Gardeners Row and emergency access near the Youth Shelter. Entry would be by ticket only. As the event is growing,
they said the quality of the production and entertain ment is increasing too, which, means more costs. The festival has been put on for free for the last fewyears, but due to rising costs and stipulations • from RVBC regarding outdoor events this year there will be an entry fee. The organisers will ensure
that there are enough stew ards, security staff etc and will also provide for more effective waste management/recycling and are looking at local firms who may be able to assist. . The organisers will ensure
that the site is left clean and tidy. Portaloos have been : booked, St John Ambulance staff will be present and public
liabilityinsurancecoverhas been taken out.
The parish council re
solved that it is happy for the ' event to go ahead providing all the health and safety meas- . ures, risk assessments and insurance requirements are
adhered to and providing the :
landowner is satisfied with arrangements. ...
Planning Regarding the plan for
demolition of a garage and '
construction of a bungalow at 54 Whalley Road, council- lors preferred this proposal ! to a previous one for this site ~
but are concerned triat access is also the only access to the
7l ;‘-
Medical Centre and needs to be kept open arid free from
obstruction for residents and emergency vehicles.
There were no objections from the Parish Council but
it will urge Ribble Valley plan ning committee, i f it is minded to approve the application, to
impose conditions to ensure construction traffic leave ac cess to the Medical Centre at all times and particularly for emergency vehicles.
Best Kept Village Consideration was given to the Special Merit entries for
the Best kept Village Compe tition and the following will • be entered into the relevant
category providing they are happy to do so: Littlemoor Sheltered Housing, the War Memorial, Holme play area, public toilets, Stubbins Vale Caravan Park, The White Hart Inn, the Bowling Club, Spe cialised Automotive Services, Brookside Garage, Sabden
Primary School and St Mary’s RC School.
Wesley Street , Consideration was given
to improvements and repairs ' to the broken fence at Wesley Street. Quotations had been received and it was decided to replace the broken posts and all the chain link fencing. The . work will be undertaken by the lengthsman. Councillors will tidy the area prior to the new fencing being erected.
Website The clerk and Coun.
Lindsey will update the Par ish Council website once it has been set up. Information on the history of Sabden is required. There have been a number of offers of photo graphs for the site.
Traffic The impact of the large
number of cumulative extra vehicles,- as a result of all the new developments, from Sab den to all mqjor routes, was discussed. Councillors felt the
junction near Whalley Golf .. Club joining the A671 would benefit from improvement as this is the main route resi dents take when leaving the village. Letters will be sent to County Coun. Albert Atkinson and the LCC Highways Dept : highlighting the concerns.
Wastepaper There has been confu
sion regarding the new waste paper collection system as the new schedules had not been •, delivered to all. The borough council was to be asked to de liver the schedules as soon as possible. Waste paper is now
collected on green bin day, ■ ; every other Thursday.
