Gill Meller, head chef at River Cottage, will open Gisburn'sfirst ever Farm ers'and Producers'Market later this month.
• The farmers’- market is a
community project organised by Gisburn Festival Hall Man agement Committee and the aim is to promote local pro duce and encourage people to shop locally, while also raising funds for the hall.
• The market will be held
at Gisburn Festival Hall on Burnley Road from 10 am to 2 pm. There will be free park ing, free admission, on-site refreshments, a children’s
playground and an Easter egg - hunt. Local youth band Silent
- Laughter will also be enter- • taining the crowds. •

the event, the number ofstalls available has been extended and there is still a chance for traders to join the fanners’ market.

> rectly help reduce the time spent by women and girls fetching water. “Water Aid transforms lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities, andits latest campaign is working towards mak ing this arealityforeveryone, everywh ere by 2030.” At the end of the service, bottles of water were distributed by the vicar, the Re v. GiU Mack, as a reminder of the many miles walked in Tanzania to collect water and to use water thankfully.

raising group Just for Alex donated money to help the Pumping Marvellous Foun dation charity to purchase
this special chair. The money was farther topped up with • a £400 contribution from money given by cardiology patients to the East Lanca shire Hospitals NHS Trust.. Angela Graves, heart fail

wonderful piece of equip ment. Heart failure patients are often admitted to hospital in great distress and may have struggledfordaysandnights. • “The aim is to remove fluid
that has gathered in the pa tient’s lungs with medication. “The chair enables the
patient to gain much-need ed rest whilst the medication begins to do itsjob.” ■
