- So far the girls have clocked up nearly 500 miles between them, covering about 40 training miles a week. Steph and Katie also completed the Great North West Half-Marathon in Feb ruary, and a couple ofweeks ago they and Laura compet ed in the Goal-Den Girls 10k _ charity race in Blackpool.

As part of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths ' Week, pupils at Pendle Primary Schoolhad a visit from ■ ' “Flash, Bang, Science!”
It brought its own purpose-built laboratory to school which each child from Key Stage 2 had the opportunity to
visit. The children studied areas such as forensic science, including looking at DNA and fingerprints, and habitats - including studying worms and owl pellets'. Other activities during the week included a whole school maths day and a special science assembly for the infant children.
