to join the orchestra's open art rehearsal on the afternoon of the concert. As part of the national campaign, "The Big Draw", art enthusiasts are encouraged to attend the orchestra's open rehearsal taking


IVE music is set to launch at The Grand at lunchtimes on Saturdays.


The growing popularity of The Grand’s Friday


lunchtime music session - together with the demand from a growing circle of artists to perform - will see the programme spill over into the weekend from Saturday, September 26th. "This will create another stage for musicians


in the region to perform" says events manager Matt Evans. "The continuing success of Friday lunchtimes and the demand, in particular for jazz music, from both customers and musicians, has persuaded us to start a Saturday session


too." "Saturdays will feature mainly acoustic acts


and singer songwriters, whiie Friday will push on with a jazz flavour, from solos and duos to


the larger groups." The autumn / winter schedule on Fridays


features piano players and singers such as Orli Nyles and Jeremy Sassoon aiong with a larger


number of visiting ensembies. Highlights include Harlem’s Disciples, a


guartet featuring Swing Commanders drummer Mark Warburton, the return of the Henry Botham Trio. The fabulous Carlton Ensemble (string quartet with flute) will inject a classical


twist on October 16th. A couple of the area’s favourite groups - the ■


last Friday of each month. Saturday lunchtime music sessions wiii take


place between noon and 2p.m. and will be free entry. Guests on September 26th are Akoustic Soul, followed by Ed Billingham on October 3rd and John Jacobs on October 10th. • Lunchtime Live features The Grand’s full


healthy food menu and takes place between noon and 2pm every Friday. Entry is free and table bookings can be made by contacting The Grand box office on 01200 421599. Saturday lunchtime music begins this Saturday, September 25th, with Akoustic Soul.
