gathered at the Rolls-Royce Leisure Centre, Barnoldswick, to celebrate the club's 70th birthday, with guests travelling from as far afield as Aberdeen, Ripon, Carlisle, Blackpool,

EVENTY years of fun, friendship and fostering farming know-how was

Newton-le-Willows, Wakefield and many points in between. Club president Mrs Pauline

Newbould welcomed one and all and acted as MC for the evening. Following a very good meal, guest

speaker Geoffrey Bolland, formerly of New House Farm, Bracewell, was introduced. While a member of the club, he served as its treasurer in the 1960s and was vice-chairman of the old West Riding Federation of YFCs

prior to the local government boundary changes of 1974. After a few reminiscences about

the club and his life then and since, Mr Bolland said what a great help the Young Farmers' movement had been throughout his career. He urged all young people in the movement to make the most of their opportunities, because experience gained now would prove invaluable in years to come.

Current club chairman Richard

Hartley expressed thanks to all who helped make the evening such a memorable one, saying he was delighted that Mr Bolland and his wife had returned to the club. He also thanked everyone who had sponsored various items for the evening and to the many local firms who donated 25 prizes for the grand raffle. Everyone present received a
