gathered on the castle field to play their part in an attempt to stage the world's largest picnic. At 1pm, at more than 100


venues across the country, including Clitheroe, around 14,000 people sat down to eat in a bid to set the record for the largest picnic at multiple locations. Mayor of the Ribble Valley,


Coun. Beverley Jones, her consort Howell Jones, Clitheroe Mayor, Coun. Mary Robinson, and town crier Roland Hailwood were among the hundreds who took their picnics to the park and enjoyed a family afternoon out.


The town picnic was one of


several events held to mark the official opening of the new Clitheroe Castle Museum.
